Testifying of God's Great Salvation

1.  The sinner’s attitude prior to salvation: Sinners typically have fleshly      (pride) in their ethnicity, education & religious zeal. (v. 3-5, Phil 3:4-6)

2.  God’s work to bring about salvation: It is only by God’s sovereign      & power that salvation comes! (6-16)

• In eternity past, God sovereignly      sinners. (Gal 1:15, Eph 1:4-6, 2 Tim 1:9)
• In time, God graciously & mercifully      , saves & transforms His elect. (v. 6-16, Rom 9:15-16)
  1. God humbles sinners &      them to faith & repentance in Jesus. (Jn 6:44)
  2. God      the eyes of sinners to recognize the Lordship of Jesus & their need for Him.
  3. God      sinners giving them a heart to obey.
  4. God calls saved sinners to give a confession of faith through      .

3.  God’s purpose in salvation: God saves His people not to live for themselves, but to      the Lord and His mission to reach the world with the Gospel. (v. 10, 14-15, 17-21)
