The Rio Vista Board of Directors has been approached by residents regarding their safety concerns of oversized commercial vehicles parked on the public roadways. We’re aware of such 18-wheeler cabs, large construction vehicles, tow trucks and more parking for periods of time including overnight in the area. Additionally, we have had complaints that these vehicles will occasionally sit and idle with their diesel engine running, thereby disturbing the residents at all hours of the day. We contacted Fort Bend County for guidance on how we could have signage installed in our district to discourage this from occurring.
To install appropriate signage, we will need 25% of the total number of homeowners to sign a petition expressing their support of this initiative. Keep in mind that only one person per residence can sign this petition. Rio Vista has a total of 419 units and would need to get 105 residents to sign the petition. Once all of the petitions are signed, we would submit the results to the county Precinct 1 representative, who in turn would review and submit to the commissioner’s court. If approved, Precinct 1 representatives would install various signs throughout the district in the residential areas putting residents on notice that no overnight parking is permitted by such vehicles.
