Pre-Care Instructions
Pre Care instructions are designed to minimize any complications or pain for the client as well as any obstacles for the artist. You must understand that if you do any of the following that you will need to reschedule in order to receive optimum results and a smooth procedure. 30 days before your appointment you must stop using any products with Retin-A. You cannot start taking any accutane and if you already are, you must wait 1 year before receiving your tattoo. Avoid facials, chemical peels, laser treatments or microdermabrasion within 3 weeks as these services can alter the skins sensitivity. Botox injection and fillers should be performed no less than 3 weeks prior. They can alter the position of your brows and texture of your skin. If you are on antibiotics, you must finish the course of the prescription and schedule your appointment no less then 2 weeks after the completion of antibiotics. You must stop all tanning services as the peeling can effect the healing process and even during the procedure itself. You will need a doctors note for pre-approval if you have an autoimmune disease, uncontrolled diabetes, epilepsy, or recent organ transplant. If you take blood thinners, you will need to stop taking them 2 days prior to your appointment and the day of your appointment. You must also get a Doctors note getting this approval and provide the day of your appointment. If your doctor says you must continue taking your blood thinners, you must also provide this note and ask them for permission to receive the tattoo still. Avoid alcohol and the use of drugs the day of and the day before your procedure. You may exercise the day before but not the day of your appointment. You must also not consume any caffeine the day of the appointment.
The procedure/what to expect
The beginning of the process will be brow mapping. This is where the artist will discuss with you what shape, thickness, and other features of the brow that you desire. A brow pencil and concealer are used to define and outline the shape to your liking. Antiseptic techniques are used to prevent any contamination throughout the process and you are required to wear your mask during the process. Once you approve the pre-draw, a numbing topical is then applied to desensitize the area. The topical is not designed to eliminate any discomfort, only alleviate. The procedure involves the use of either a tattoo machine or microblading pen and tattoo ink.
After Care instructions
These instruction are also included in your after-care kit in case you need a quick reminder. Otherwise, please refer back to the consent form or the website for after care instructions. It is normal for your brows to seem darker and more saturated for the first 7-10 days. They will be itchy, this is normal.Your brows will start to scab as any wound would and it is important you do not pick or peel at the brow. Doing so can cause less than desirable results such as loss of pigmentation, scar tissue and even infection. Do not tan or be under direct sun exposure. Wear a hat if needed. Do not go in saunas or scrub with an exfoliator, do not use makeup on or around the area. Do not go swimming or excessively sweat since salt is a natural saline solution that pushes pigment out of the skin, hence why people receive saline solutions to remove a bad brow job. A visor will be provided in your after care kit to minimize water contact during your showers. If they get wet, it is okay, just pat dry lightly. Brows will be tender or have slight swelling as any tattoo would and is a normal part of healing. Your artist will tell you what is NOT normal and feel free to contact if you have any concerns. On day 1 post procedure, you MUST keep them dry. You may have some clear lymph fluid and excess ink and you can blot dry with a tissue lightly every hour or two to keep them dry. On day 2-10, use a cutip and dip in the alcohol free witch hazel. Lightly sweep across the brows to cleanse. After, use a cutip to apply a thin layer of ointment across the brows. Do this 2-3 times a day such as morning, mid day, and before you sleep. After day 10, you do not need to apply anything to the brows anymore. It is normal for the brow to get lighter, or be lighter/darker in some areas due to an individuals natural healing process which is why a touch up is required. Consult with your physician to resume any medications such as prescriptions or blood thinners.
Signs of infection
Signs of infections include thick raised scabs that resemble keloids, yellow crust or yellow discharge, pain, increased redness and feels hot around the area a couple days after procedure. Sometimes a congestion of scabbing will cause the skin to be congested and lack oxygen. It is important to let your brows breathe and receive oxygen to avoid this. Sometimes this happens to those who have a weaker immune system or normally have healing problems. This is also why you should cleanse the area and apply a THIN amount of ointment 2-3 times a day to the area to keep the area from feeling dry, itchy, or tight. Too much ointment can suffocate the brow. If the brow is infected follow these steps:
-Take a warm to hot shower and rinse your brows directly under for 5 minutes to soften the scabs.
-After it has softened, GENTLY begin to rub the scab with finger or soft towlette under the running water to allow the release of the scab.
-Once finished, gently pat brows with a clean, fresh towel. DO NOT put on any products on the brows, let the skin BREATHE.
Another scab will form eventually which is normal, and the redness or pain should subside. There is a high chance there will be loss of pigment and the touch up should be done once the skin has completely healed. You may use an over the counter antibiotic if necessary and your doctor approves but DO NOT put any makeup or any moisturizing ointment if the skin is still healing.
