  • WIHI Application for the 2022-2023 School Year

Our application is a three step process and it is best to click save at the bottom of the app before clicking submit. Just in case it doesn't go through, you don't have to re-enter all student information again.

Current WIMA students wanting to attend WIHI for 9th grade DO NOT need to complete this application!  WIMA to WIHI enrollment will be determined when families complete their committment forms in April.

FYI - You will know your application went through by three ways:

1.) A "Thank You Note" will pop up as soon as you submit - make sure your popup blocker is off.

2.) You will get an immediate email response with a copy of the application you submitted

3.) You will receive a link to register your student for placement testing

If you do not receive these confirmations, your main application did not go through.

Please scroll up and see if anything is highlighted in RED.  If so, please correct it and click "submit" again.

Here are the steps needed to complete the application:

Step 1 - Send WIHI Discipline to Current School to complete and give back to the family.

Click the link above for the WIHI Discipline Form.

Reminder - This is up to the family to obtain prior to applying. WIHI DOES NOT request student discipline records on behalf of families.

Any application received without this completed document or at least a discipline print off from the student’s current school, will have an incomplete application and will not be included in the lottery or able to participate in placement testing.

Step 2 - Attach all student support documents to online application. This includes 2021-2022 grades.  The application will not go through if any forms are blank or missing.

Step 3 - Student Placement Testing - we allow up to 3hrs for testing.

Once the application has been submitted a link will pop-up for families to register for ONE placement testing day in March.

This link will also be available on the confirmation email sent immediately after the application has been submitted.  If you do not receive this email right away, please be sure to check your junk or spam folder, as sometimes they get moved there.

While testing is important and we want students to do their best, placement testing does not determine acceptance.  All acceptances are determined by the lottery. Placement testing helps us determine the correct Math class and Second Language class level for each student.

The lottery and results will be posted in April.  Placement testing results will be available in May.

Once all three steps have been completed, the student's application will be added to our list to be included in the lottery.

    REMINDER:

Any application received without all completed and required documents, will have an incomplete application and will not be included in the lottery or able to participate in placement testing.

    IF APPLYING AFTER THE DEADLINE:

Any application received/completed after the deadline, will not be included in the lottery but will be added to the bottom of the waitlist.

  • Sibling Information:

Siblings are given priority when applying to WIHI. Please make sure to list your information accurately, as siblings will be verified.
  • Parent/Legal Guardian Information:

In the state of Michigan, a step-parent or guardian is considered a “legal stranger”, even when married to a biological parent.  This means that they have no legal claim to children. The situation changes if a legal adoption takes place or the court has granted guardianship over the student. For this reason, step -parents and non-court ordered guardians can not sign the application or any school forms. All school forms must be signed by the student's legal parent/guardian. Any questions about this, please contact Mrs. Cartwright @Kcartwright@wihi.org.

  • School of Choice Information:

Families who live outside of Washtenaw County or in the Dexter School District.
  • FYI - If your student is currently School of Choiced into the Ann Arbor Public School District, please know that your School of Choice will not carry over to WIHI per Ann Arbor requirements.   Ann Arbor School of Choice students will be placed under the school district in which they reside for the lottery and registration.

  • If you selected Yes to the question above, please click the link below to complete the Required School of Choice Application:

    School of Choice Application

Please note, this application will not be sent to YCS until an official spot has been offered by WIHI and accepted by the family.

It is up to the Ypsilanti School District to accept or deny the student's school of choice application.  The student will not be able to start at WIHI until the School of Choice application has been approved.

Decisions from the Ypsilanti School district, typically take between 3-14 school days. However, they may take longer if a release is needed from a district outside of Washtenaw County.

  • NEW TO DISTRICT ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS:

    1. ) If a student is accepted through the lottery and they are currently attending their Washtenaw County local public district school,  the only registration required is WIHI's registration, in order to attend WIHI.

2.) If a student is accepted through the lottery and they are currently attending a Private, Charter, Online (not through local public school) or Homeschooled, the family may be required to complete their local high school public registeration requirements and WIHI's registration, in order to attend WIHI. Dates of when to do this will be emailed with lottery placement results in April, if needed.

3.) If the student is accepted through the lottery and currently lives outside of Washtenaw County or in the city of Dexter, families may be required to complete Ypsilanti's Online Registration, and WIHI's in order to attend WIHI. Dates of when to do this will be emailed with lottery placement results in April, if needed.

If the student does not register with their local high school or Ypsilanti (if they live outside of Washtenaw County or in Dexter) by the deadline given in their lottery acceptance email the student will be unable to attend WIHI and will be dropped.

  • Records Request Form:

All families are required to complete a records request form linked below:

    Records Request Form

Please be aware - after a student has been offered a spot through the lottery and the family accepts the spot, then WIHI will send over the records request form to your student's school.  Families do not have to do anything further, except to complete the form.

Questions about this, please email Mrs. Cartwright at kcartwright@wihi.org

  • Student Documents:

Grades and Discipline report should be from the 2021-2022 school year
  • Grades: Please attach a copy of your student's 2021-2022 progress report or report card.

If applying for 10th, 11th or 12th (must be a current IB student) grade - please also attach, in addition to your 2021-2022 grades, a final transcript from last year.

Discipline Form: Reminder - This form needs to be completed for the 2021-2022 & 2020-2021 school years. If the student attended different schools during this time, a discipline form will need to be requested from each school. Discipline records do not determine acceptance, but are required in order to apply.

WIHI DOES NOT REQUEST DISCIPLINE RECORDS.  THIS IS UP TO THE FAMILY TO OBTAIN AND ATTACH TO THE APPLICATION.

Applications submitted with a blank or incomplete discipline request by the student’s current school will be deleted and families will need to reapply once ready.

It is strongly suggested that until families have this form completed by current school, they add student/family information and click "Save" at the bottom of the application.  Once the discipline form is completed, families can log back into their application and attach it and then submit the application.
