Tidewater Tots Childcare Application
Hello there, we are so happy you found us! We provide quality, experienced, professional sitters to families in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. PLEASE NOTE we are not a physical facility or daycare- our sitters ALWAYS travel to client homes to provide care. We have a client base of around 2,000 families, and get multiple requests daily for all kinds of occasional babysitting, date night care, overnight care, and everything in between. Our sitters pick up jobs as they please depending on the date, time, location, etc! We also have a waitlist of all kinds of nanny positions (full time, part time, evenings, etc.) so if you are interested in a more regular schedule, there are many positions and families to choose from. We have sitters who choose work with us full time, and sitters who have other full time jobs elsewhere and only pick up jobs here and there. You would be able to work as much or as little as you’d like with complete flexibility over your own schedule. We thank you for your interest, and can’t wait to hear from you!

Because our sitters have complete flexibility over their own schedule and are able to choose what families to care for, when to pick up jobs, and how many jobs they pick up, they are considered independent contractors. All sitters are on payroll as independent contractors and will receive 1099 tax forms. Please write below that you have acknowledged this.

If you are not familiar with being an independent contractor, do not worry! We will help guide you to the best of our ability, and provide resources to set you up for success.
If you have your own kiddos, you will have access to our sitters and will not have to pay any booking fees. Some of our sitters will even babysit for each other at cheaper rates if you ask, so please know that you have community within our team! However, we try our best to not have sitters bring their own children along with them to jobs, and if there is no other option, the client MUST agree to it beforehand. Do you understand?

All sitters must complete a background check before being brought on to our team. Our background check company checks state and county criminal records, the sex offender registry, the global watchlist, driving records, and verifies social security. Tidewater Tots splits the base cost of $65 for the background check with the sitter. Tidewater Tots will also pay any additional state and county fees associated with your background check. We will send you a $30 invoice via email that covers half the base cost of the background check, which is a tax deductible expense for the sitter. Please type below, "I understand."

Interviews are held in person & typically last around an hour and a half. The exact location & time can be discussed based on availability, your location, and the location of other sitters interviewing the same day. If you are hired on the spot, we will help you fill out a W-9 to get you set up as an independent contractor. No need to dress formal, feel free to dress as you would to go babysit!
