Nominations for the 2021 Iowa Business Hall of Fame are being accepted until Friday, Dec. 3, 2021 at noon CST. Nominations can be submitted by a member of the Greater Des Moines Committee or by other Iowa business leaders.

Generally, there are two or three awardees recognized each year. In some instances, the Committee recognizes a group award. Awardees will be selected on merit, not endorsement. The criteria for selection are as follows:
- Business Leadership: Individual has led a business that has provided valued jobs and economic development to their community and our state, creating both wealth and workforce opportunity.
- Community Development Impact: Individual has made an impact by improving the economies of their community and the state through their leadership in such organizations as Chambers of Commerce, economic development and centers of education.
- Community Volunteerism/Leadership: Individual has personally given of their time and financial resources for the betterment of their community through support of charities and organizations.
- Strategic Leadership: Individual has contributed to community economic growth through visionary leadership, community problem-solving and building strategic alliances.
- Business Recognition: Individual is recognized by their peers as a business leader.
- Business Ethics: Individual conducts themselves in a manner consistent with a high standard of business ethics.
