Outstanding Alumni Awards

These awards, established by McMurry in 2017, recognize alumni who have had a significant impact in their professional field and their community, through achievement and/or service. All nominees must be graduates of McMurry University. One award is given in each of the following departments:

Business

Education

Fine Arts

Math and the Sciences

Humanities, Religion and Social Sciences
Ann Spence Servant Leadership Alumni Award

Servant leaders work to help their followers to discover the best in themselves and to achieve greatness. A great leader develops the vision and then enables others to achieve the vision. In order to enable others, servant leaders use their head, heart, and hands.

The McMurry graduate who is honored with the Servant Leadership Award will meet this definition and the following tenants:

Called to lead
Confident
Courage in making decisions
Empower others
Trustworthy
Create a vision that they enable others to achieve
They do all of this while setting aside their own wants and needs.
Young Alumni Achievement Award

The Young Alumni Achievement Award was created in 2011 (as the Spirit of McMurry Award) by the Alumni Association to honor Alumni who have graduated in the last 20 years and have excelled in their profession, served their community, and served McMurry. The nominee must be a graduate of McMurry and must not be employed by the University.
Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award was established in 1971 by the Alumni Association to recognize Alumni who have made a significant contribution to their profession, society, and McMurry University. The nominee must be a graduate of McMurry University and must not be employed by the University.
