  • RELEASE OF LIABILITY

    In return for being allowed to participate in Raise a Child of the Carolinas (The RACC) volunteer activities and all related activities, including any activities incidental to such participation (“Volunteer Activities”), the undersigned Volunteer or Parent/Legal Guardian of Volunteer if Volunteer is under age 18 (hereafter referred to using “I”, “me”, or “my”) releases and agrees not to sue Raise a Child of the Carolinas or its officers, directors, employees, sub-contractors, sponsors, agents and affiliates (“The RACC”) from all present and future claims that may be made by me, my family, estate, heirs, or assigns for property damage, personal injury, or wrongful death arising as a result of my participation in the Volunteer Activities wherever, whenever, or however the same may occur.

    I understand and agree that The RACC is not responsible for any injury or property damage arising out of the Volunteer Activities, even if caused by their ordinary negligence or otherwise.

    I understand that participation in the Volunteer Activities involves certain risks, including, but not limited to, serious injury and death. I am voluntarily participating in the Volunteer Activities with knowledge of the danger involved and I agree to accept all risks of participation.

    I also agree to indemnify and hold harmless The RACC for all claims arising out of my participation in the Volunteer Activities.

    I understand that this document is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the state in which the Volunteer Activities takes place and agree that if any portion of this Agreement is invalid, the remainder will continue in full legal force and effect.

    I also acknowledge that The RACC has not arranged and do not carry any insurance of any kind for my benefit or that of Volunteer (if Volunteer is under 18), my parents, guardians, trustees, heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns.

    I represent that, to my knowledge, I am in good health and suffer no physical impairment that would or should prevent my participation in Volunteer Activities. I also understand that this document is a contract which grants certain rights to and eliminates the liability of The RACC.

  • DRESS CODE POLICY

    Appearance contributes to Raise a Child of the Carolinas (“The RACC” or the “Organization”) culture and reputation. Employees, volunteers, and representatives are expected to present themselves in a professional manner that results in a favorable impression by the participants as well as the community. 

     During certain public events, The RACC staff, volunteers, and representatives may be asked to dress business casual.
    Business casual dress is defined as follows:

    - Casual shirts: All shirts with collars, business casual crew-neck or V-neck shirts, blouses, and golf and polo shirts. Examples of inappropriate shirts include T-shirts, shirts with inappropriate slogans, tank tops, muscle shirts, camouflage and crop tops.

    - Pants: Casual slacks, trousers and jeans without holes, frays, etc. Examples of inappropriate pants include shorts, camouflage, and pants worn below the waist or hip line.

    - Footwear: Casual slip-on or tie shoes, dress sandals, and clean athletic shoes. Examples of inappropriate footwear include flip-flops and construction or hunting boots.

    Company logo wear
    Dresses or skirts (knee length)
    Dressy sandals / Casual shoes including clean athletic shoes
    Shorts of an appropriate length (mid-thigh length)

    Inappropriate Summer Dress
    Logo clothing (no inappropriate language or graphics) / Spaghetti straps, halter tops or tank tops
    Flip-flops / crocs without the strap / fuzzy slippers
    Sweatpants / Leggings
    Tight, revealing or otherwise inappropriate clothing
    Clothing that is ripped, frayed, stained or messy (no ripped jeans or shorts)

    Reasonable accommodation of attire for religious beliefs:
    The RACC recognizes the importance of individually held religious beliefs to persons within its workforce. The RACC will reasonably accommodate a staff member, volunteer, and representative’s religious beliefs in terms of workplace attire unless the accommodation creates an undue hardship. Accommodation of religious beliefs in terms of attire may be difficult in light of safety issues for staff members. Those requesting a workplace attire accommodation based on religious beliefs should be referred to the human resources department or Authorized Leader.

  • PUBLICITY RELEASE

    In return for being allowed to participate in Raise a Child of the Carolinas (The RACC) volunteer activities and all related activities, including any activities incidental to such participation (“Volunteer Activities”), the undersigned Volunteer or Parent/Legal Guardian of Volunteer if Volunteer is under age 18 (hereafter referred to using “I”, “me”, or “my”) hereby grants to The RACC, and each of its subsidiaries, affiliates, agents, advertising or promotional agencies, and partners, and all such entities’ officers, directors, agents, employees, respective successors and assigns (collectively, “Authorized Parties”), the absolute and irrevocable right and permission to use, publish, broadcast and/or copyright the use of Volunteer’s name, address, voice, photograph and/or likeness, caricature, and personal information, in its current form or as retouched, digitized, cropped, altered, distorted or modified in any way, in any and all advertising, promotional, or other materials based upon or derived from the Volunteer Activities in any manner, in any media whatsoever for any and all purposes, including by way of example but without limitation advertising, promoting or publicizing products and services throughout the universe, in perpetuity, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised (including without limitation on the Internet), without
    additional compensation.

    I further agree that anything derived there from will be owned solely by the Authorized Parties. I shall not authorize the use of any print, negative or other copy thereof by anyone other than the Authorized Parties.

    I understand that this document is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the state in which the Volunteer Activities takes place and agree that if any portion of this Agreement is invalid, the remainder will continue in full legal force and effect.

  • CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY

    Raise a Child of the Carolinas (“The RACC” or the “Organization”) is a youth-serving, community-based organization dedicated to exposing youth to educational opportunities that are underrepresented in their communities, thus inspiring them to reach their full potential. Participation in the organization’s programs is subject to the observance of the organization’s rules and procedures. We remain committed to being governed by The RACC’s Promise.

    The activities outlined below are strictly prohibited. Any participant, staff member, or volunteer who violates this Code is subject to discipline, up to and including removal from the program.


    - Abusive language towards a staff member, volunteer, another participant, or community individual or group.
    - Possession or use of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs on The RACC’s property or reporting to the program while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
    - Bringing onto The RACC’s property dangerous or unauthorized materials such as explosives, firearms, weapons or other similar items.
    - Discourtesy or rudeness to a fellow participant, staff member, volunteer, or community individual or group.
    - Verbal, physical or visual harassment of another participant, staff member, volunteer, or community individual or group.
    - Actual or threatened violence toward any individual or group.
    - Conduct endangering the life, safety, health or well-being of others.
    - Failure to follow any agency policy or procedure.
    - Bullying or taking unfair advantage of any participant.
    - Failing to cooperate with an adult supervisor/leader/mentor.

  • SEXUAL ASSAULT POLICY

    Raise a Child of the Carolinas (“The RACC” or the “Organization”) prohibits and does not tolerate sexual abuse or misconduct in the workplace or during any organization-related activity. The RACC provides procedures for employees, volunteers, board members or any other victims of sexual abuse or misconduct to report such acts. Those reasonably suspected or believed to have committed sexual abuse or misconduct will be appropriately disciplined, up to and including termination of employment or membership, as well as criminally prosecuted. No employee, volunteer, board member or other person, regardless of his or her title or position has the authority to commit or allow sexual abuse or misconduct.
