  • What is the headspace Hobart Youth Reference Group?

    headspace Hobart is a program of The Link Youth Health Service (The Link). The Youth Reference Group (YRG) is a volunteer advisory group of young people who are passionate about the mental health and wellbeing of our friends, families, and communities.
  • We are:

    ● Aged 16-25

    ● Volunteers

    ● Young people from diverse backgrounds (including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer (LGBTIQ+), Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI).

    ● Interested in, and passionate about mental health and wellbeing of young people.

     

    What we do:

    ● Fortnightly meetings

    ● Promote headspace (and other programs of The Link Youth Health Service- our Lead Agency) at local community events

    ● Input into Centre policies and procedures

    ● Input into Centre design

    ● Assist with staff recruitment

    ● Assist with resource development

    ● Collaborate on promotional activities and ideas

     

    Group members have the opportunity to develop skills in areas such

    as:

    ● Media and communications

    ● Events

    ● Creative arts

    ● Youth Mental Health First Aid

    ● Advocacy

    The Link - including headspace Hobart - is a place where everyone is safe and respected. Being safe means: not feeling threatened; not being judged; having your privacy respected; and having a safe space to get help.
