  • Level 1: Verbal Warning - This will be the majority of the penalties for our robotics programs. Students are treated as the young adults that they are and will be expected to respond in the same way. If verbally reprimanded, we expect the conduct to immediately stop. Level 2: Written Warning - The student's parents or legal guardian will be informed of any offenses deemed necessary of a written warning. A written warning is generally reserved for recurrence of minor infractions that a student has been verbally reprimanded for. Level 3: Team Suspension - The student will not be allowed to participate in all team activity for a period of time that is to be decided based on the severity of the infraction. The most likely cause for a team suspension is a GPA

Level 4: Red Shirt - A repeated infraction past a written warning may result in a "Red Shirt." The student will be allowed to attend practice or meetings but will not be allowed to attend the competition. One of the highlights of the season is competing with the team against peers at large venues. To repeal this would give the student many of the benefits and the experience of the team, but still let the student in question understand the severity of the

Level 5: Removal from Team - The mentors of the Lakeshore FIRST Robotics teams reserve the right to cut any student breaking this code of conduct from the team at any time. This will obviously require a severe infraction on the part of the student and will be discussed at length with the parent/guardian to let them understand the

For Parents or Legal Guardians: Within Lakeshore FIRST Robotics we feel that we are working with young adults who will become the future engineers and professionals that will determine America's future. We expect these students to act as young adults with gracious professionalism and teamwork in mind at all time. A verbal warning has been all that has ever been needed in the past, and we hope that the students involved in the FIRST robotics program continue to impress us as they have before. If severity or recurrence require action beyond a verbal warning, parents/legal guardians will be informed. While we will discuss and work with the parents/guardians on all penalties to ensure that they are in the best long term interest of the student, the mentors of the team reserve the right to make the final decision on the penalty issued to the student.

    1. I understand my child or ward must retain a GPA of 2.0 or higher to be an active member on the team. I permit a teacher or lead mentor from the team to view my child's or ward's report card. All grades will be kept confidential by the lead mentors of the Lakeshore First Robotics member FIRST teams.

    2. I understand that if I would like to take my child or ward home IN MY CUSTODY, or allow a family member to take my child or ward home in their custody after a competition, instead of using the transportation sponsored by Lakeshore First Robotics or member FIRST team, I understand I MUST provide written confirmation that I am taking custody of my child or ward prior to leaving the venue.

    3. As the parent/legal guardian of Student, have had sufficient opportunity to review the Student Code of Conduct; understand its purpose, meaning and intents, and have explained to provisions my child or ward the aforementioned stipulated conditions and their meaning and ramifications. I further understand that if my child or ward has a severe rule infraction during travel, especially one that endangers their own safety or the safety of other participants, that I may be required to pick up the student at my own expense.
