Reunification Therapy typically serves to reunify a parent with their children and/or improve connections, and enable children to go back and forth between parents' homes comfortably. Goals may be individualized for each family but often involve attending to issues responsible for the breakdown of the parent-child relationshipand establishing healthier parent-child relations and family balance.
Procedures
As a general rule, I meet with each parent (or caregiver) separately and then with each child separately. Relevant documentation is reviewed and collaterals may be contacted. You and your child's physical and emotional safety is of the utmost importance during this process. After one-on-one meetings have ocurred, best options for treatment will be decided.
Limits of Confidentiality
Reunification Therapy, particularly when ordered by the Court, is considered a non-confidential process. Notes, correspondence (including electronic communications), consultations, observations, and financial information and recommendations may be disclosed to the Court by the Therapist. Individual records and working documents are not disclosed but summary reports and recommendations are produced as required by Court. Releases of information will be provided for parties to sign and permit disclosure/sharing of information with others.
Your therapist is a Mandated Reporter. As such, there are situations when the disclosure of confidential information is necessary and/or required by law:
- When there is imminent threat of harm to self;
- When there is credible threat of physical harm to a third party or property; and/or

Information may also be released for billing/payment or quality management purposes.
