POLICY & PROCESS
For the safety of all program participants and the communities that host us, Wheaton College requires all individuals who participate in international programs to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In addition, many countries currently require visitors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the country or to bypass lengthy mandatory quarantine and isolation periods upon entry or in the event of a positive COVID-19 test.
Employees or students may request medical or religious accommodations to the vaccination requirement. Individuals who wish to request an accommodation can do so by completing a medical accommodation request form or religious accommodation request form and attaching the supporting documentation required by those forms.
Requests for accommodation will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Student Health Services (for students) or Human Resources (for employees) will perform the initial review of the medical or religious accommodation request to ensure the rationale meets the requirements of the policy. Where SHS or HR determine that the request satisfies the requirements of the policy and the particular accommodation request form, the accommodation request will be reviewed by the International Risk Assessment and Management Committee (the “IRAMC”).
The factors that will be considered by IRAMC in assessing requests for accommodation will include but are not limited to: local entry and quarantine requirements, restrictions on internal mobility or access to venues, the nature and extent of interactions with local communities, availability of adequate medical care in the international location(s), the length of the program, public health requirements (such as quarantine and travel restrictions, including re-entry to the U.S.) that will apply when an unvaccinated individual is exposed to or contracts the virus abroad, and other facts and circumstances that may impact the program and its participants. Please note: Wheaton College cannot override policies or requirements implemented by other countries or program partners.
Determinations will be made by the IRAMC and considered final.
