$1500 Scholarship
Scholarships are offered to any woman student from Kitsap County, Wash. who is entering or in a program of study in a health-related field. This scholarship was created to honor the life of Florence Lyngstad, a devoted registered nurse and member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood who passed away in 1995.
Before proceeding, please read through the eligibility criteria and have ready information about the school you will attend, short essays of 500 or fewer words about your educational goals and your financial need, and email contacts for two people who will recommend you. Eligibility Criteria
1. Be a woman 25 years old or younger.
2. Reside in Kitsap County, Wash. or attended high school in Kitsap County, Wash.
3. Be a high school graduate or equivalent by the time the scholarship is disbursed.
4. Be working toward an associate's or undergraduate degree in a medical-related field and enrolled at an accredited community or technical college or university at the time scholarship funds are awarded.
5. You will need to request two letters of recommendation from educators, counselors or community leaders. They will be asked to fill out a separate online form.
6. Describe financial need.
7. Applicants related to a current member of the scholarship review committee are NOT eligible for reward.
8. Complete and submit application and all required materials by deadline.
Award Process
1. Complete the online application at http://bit.ly/florencelyngstad. Do not submit your application until all required fields have been completed.
2. Deadline: Applications must be completed by no later than 11:59 p.m. Sept. 1, 2024. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please contact those who are writing your letters of recommendation to ensure that they have been sent.
3. P.E.O. Chapter CM Scholarship committee will review all complete applications. Selection of the recipients will be made in accordance with the aforementioned eligibility criteria, and a recipient will be chosen no later than Sep. 30, 2024.
4. Upon selection, the Chapter CM Scholarship committee submit an individual case history for approval by the P.E.O. Foundation Board of Trustees.
5. Once approved, recipients must complete and return two copies of acceptance forms and arrange for her school to complete and sign two copies of a confirmation of enrollment form. All forms must be sent to the P.E.O. Foundation office by November 1.
6. After final approval by the P.E.O. Foundation Board of Trustees, Chapter CM will notify recipients by mail or email and may be invited to attend a future social with members of P.E.O. Chapter CM.
7. Once funds are received, recipients may expend funds for directly related educational expenses, such as tuition, fees or books. etc., during any term within one year of the award date.
