    Santa Greeting Requests

    Send Santa your information below to have him send a greeting from the Lighted Ships Parade on December 21st. Parade begins at 5:00PM and ends at 8:50PM.

  • Form Documentation:

    • The Geolocator used in the form requires an API from Google. 
      • Before acquiring the API a payment account needs to be set up. In 2023 Google provided a 90-day free trial period. Going forward in future years a payment might be required at: https://console.cloud.google.com/billing/01968F-08E560-4EB495/manage?project=lightedships-santa-greetings  
      • Once the payment is established, to create an API go to: https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials?project=lightedships-santa-greetings
    • Santa Greetings (Data) are stored in a Google Sheet title: “Lighted Ships Captains - Santa Requests”

    2021:
    Originally developed by Jaci Bryant November 2021. For the first time GeoLocation widget was used. Jaci's company provided the Google API Key.

    The Santa requests are sent to a Google Sheet for mapping on Google Maps. Click here to see the map and click here to see the Google Sheet. The same Google Sheet is also used for recording PYC Members who participate in the parade which is used in conjunction with the "Lighted Ships Parade Participant's Registration" JotForm.

    To log into the Google Sheet use LightedShips@gmail.com The password can be obtained from Bill Whiteley or George Daniels.

    2022:

    Based on the previous year's Santa requests several additions were added:

    • A sequential number to track entries on the route
    • In addition to the Geolocator a choice of three options for common locations, i.e. Poulsbo Waterfront Park, Sully’s in Suquamish and Other.
    • If "Other" is selected the Geolocation widget and street address appears. Initially these options are hidden. The street address only appears if the Geolocator isn't moved from its original position, i.e., Lyons Park across from PYC.
    • When "Poulsbo Waterfront Park" or "Sully’s in Suquamish" are selected a hidden "collector" field was added to record the Geolocations for these locations. In like fashion, the "collector" records the Geolocation if utilized.
    • The confirmation email, in addition to the form's data, provides the person with Junior Sailing information.

    Ahoy there, dear boat parade enthusiasts!

    Once again, Santa's sleigh has transformed into a boat, and along with my friends at the Poulsbo Yacht club, I'm setting sail to spread some holiday cheer over the water. 🚢✨

    I'd love to help make this parade extra special for your little ones! Please share your short and sweet messages for Santa to read aloud to the eager kids onboard. 

    Remember, keep it brief, as the sea breeze can carry only so much Christmas magic!
