  • About this Program

    Test Pilots enjoy breaking things, are obsessed with quality, and help to identify and reproduce bugs. With first access to unreleased, private builds, Test Pilots assist in verifying the game and new features through testing to ensure a stable enough build-state for wider release. Test Pilots participate in guided sessions and practical product testing while providing critical feedback that helps shape the direction of game development. A valuable source of hands-on-experience for people who are interested in a career in QA!

  • Disclaimer & Additional Criteria

    In addition to meeting the below stated requirements, 8CS reserves the right to accept and reject applicants on a case to case basis at their discretion based on our evaluation in several areas. All applicants will be vetted before being placed into a trial role. During this period we will be monitoring your activity across Discord and Social Media platforms for engagement, voice, and overall “fit” to ensure our Test Pilots  align with our overall values and voice - as well as whether or not they will be helpful additions to the Test Pilot team. It is strongly suggested to join the Discord and start interacting, posting, commenting, and engaging with the community before applying for a Test Pilot role so we have the opportunity to meet you. It is also strongly recommended to get in-game and familiarize yourself with it. Please note that while we will try to provide constructive criticism and feedback when possible, we are not able to respond individually to every application beyond its approval status. We also reserve the right to remove your roles and perks from any accounts who become inactive and are not performing the duties of their roles, as well as make exceptions when necessary. Please note : In-Game perks rewarded will come with a base version you can keep, and an “active” version that is available only while active in the program.

  • Initial Application Approval - Trial Role

    Upon submitting a successful application, all new Test Pilots will receive a “trial” role that they will hold for a 30 day period. During this period, they must demonstrate that they can meet the requirements of a Level 1 Test Pilot, at which time they will be evaluated with the potential to be promoted to the full role and have access to any additional perks or access. If applicants do not meet the requirements outlined below, your “trial” role will be removed and applicants are welcomed to re-apply at a later date. Trial Test Pilots will have access to a specific trial role in order to have access to the Test Pilot sections of the Discord.

  • Requirements - Level 1:

    • Attend and participate in at least 1 organized Test Session per week.
      (This applies to 8CS-organized testing sessions led by our QA Lead (Dwayne) or senior level Test Pilot Leaders. You must also join the VC channel for communications with the team.)
    • Report bugs or provide feedback based on the daily objectives.
      (Assist in the days test objectives and provide both verbal and written comments when nescessary.)
    • Engage in a professional and respectful manner during Test Sessions.
      (During Test Sessions, not engaging in behaviour that is disruptive to the session or other testers - we like to have a good time but preventing progress and critical conversations isn't helpful)
    • Work towards and demonstrate superior knowledge of the product.
      (Play the game, learn the game, know what should happen, shouldn't happen, be able to answer community questions.)

  • Perks:

    • Test Pilot Level 1 Designation within the 8CS Discord Server & separately displayed role.
    • Test Pilot Level 1 Badge In-Game (Base version to keep, Level 1 badge only while participating in the program)
    • Test Pilot Build Access (Exclusive access to un-released builds only for Testers and Developers - you’ll be the first to see and play new content!)
    • Access to basic console commands in the test builds.
    • Test Pilot Build Streaming/Content Creation Access (Permission and ability to create content from our un-released builds - MUST use provided on-screen disclaimer of “Unreleased Build Content”. Please ask Dwayne before streaming any sessions.)

    We will do our best to get to your application and process it as soon as possible, but please do allow us some time to review the submitted information. In the meantime, we strongly recommend joining our discord server, introducing yourself, and getting to know the community and familiarizing yourself with the game itself. It is also strongly recommended to get in-game and familiarize yourself with the game before applying.
    Please note: These requirements, perks and information may change as the program expands and we continue to grow.
