Description of the Academic Affairs Committee
The Academic Affairs Committee serves as a liaison between the students and administration to convey opinions and impact change on academic aspects of the University. Our goal is to represent the student’s best interest by influencing the policies and curriculum that shape our education. Current & Past Projects include, but are not limited to, extending the drop period for class withdrawal, publishing the OMETs, developing plans for new minors and certificates, and hosting a Meet the Academic Deans Event.
Expectations of the Academic Affairs Chair
The Academic Affairs Chair shall:
- Hold an open weekly committee meeting

Lead a committee that provides an atmosphere that encourages the attainment of intellectual goals of the student body and serves as a venue for the expression of academic interests.

Represent these interests at administrative meetings that influence the academic policies of the University

Enable the undergraduate body to effectively utilize the academic opportunities provided by the University through programming and proliferating information

Increase student interest in, and awareness of, the various aspects of academia.

Appoint 3 Vice Chairs (Vice Chair of Arts and Sciences, Vice Chair of Engineering, Vice Chair of Business) to help assist in completing the goals and initiatives of the Academic Affairs Committee

Serve as the appointed student representative for the Provost Advisory Committee on Undergraduate Programs.

Coordinate the students serving on the Dietrich Council and Undergraduate Dietrich Council
Additionally the chair shall meet the requirements of all conditional committee chairs, which include:
- Serve as the official spokesperson for their corresponding committees.
- Attend all public meetings of Student Government Board and present a report (Each Tuesday at 8:45pm).
- Hold five office hours per week in the Student Government Board office.
- Attend Cabinet meeting each week (meeting of all conditional committee chairs facilitated by the VP & Chief of Cabinet).
- Create agendas for committee meetings.
- Supply The Chief of Cabinet and Student Government Board President with meeting minutes for each meeting.
