  • SAFETY RULES

    1. The fencing floor is a restricted area and only fencers may be on it. Non - participants must stay in the observation/seating area.
    2. Fencing weapons must be carried point down or in a fencing bag.
    3. No type of movement with the blade is allowed if any person within 6 feet of action is unmasked.
    4. Warm up stretches are required before a lesson or practice.
    5. Mask, glove, fencing jacket, knickers, plastron, and clean athletic shoes (w/o duct tape) must be worn when fencing.
    6. Walking or standing close to fencers th at are fencing when blade points are raised or blades are in motion is prohibited.
    7. Unsportsmanlike behavior and rough play or actions, whether intentional or not, are prohibited.
    8. All fencers have a duty to report any unsafe area or unsafe activity to the staff.
    9. Any illness, injury or taking of medication must be reported to the instructor before lessons or practice.
    10. No participation while under the influence of medicines or chemicals which cause drowsiness or disorientation.
    11. Any person not abiding by GFA rules may be subject to expulsion.

  • LEGAL NOTICES

  • 1. You represent that you are in good physical condition and have no physical or mental health problems that will preclude or inhibit your participation in fencing activities.

    2. You hereby give consent to GFA and its representatives to obtain medical care at your Expense from any physicians, hospital or clinic for you and/or the above mentioned fencing Student for any injury or illness that may arise during any activities associated with GFA.

    I do hereby release Stanislav Gutkovskiy, Gutkovskiy Fencing Academy, the staff of GFA and its sponsors, from any liability resulting from injury, accidents, illness, death or other mishap that occurs while participating in the program at GFA.

  • GFA MEMBERSHIP POLICIES

    1. Memberships start from the dat e you sign the Membership Agreement Form.
    2. To be considered a GFA member, you must be a paying member on an annual or monthly basis.
    3. A GFA member also must list GFA (Gutkovskiy Fencing Academy) as their primary club on their United States Fencing Associat ion Membership form as well as on the www.askfred.net entries.
    4. Every GFA member must represent GFA at any USFA - sanctioned comp etition that they participate in and wear their GFA patch either on their uniform either on the shoulder of their non - dominant arm sleeve or on the side of their thigh (back leg).
    5. One GFA logo patch is available per member free of charge. Extra patches ar e available for a fee.
    6. All members who do not abide by membership policies #3 and #4 are subject to paying the non - member fee structure.
    7. If two GFA members have the unfortunate situation of having to fence against each other at a competition, they can n ot be coached.
    8. GFA members must represent GFA as their primary club in order to retain member benefits and discounts. In some circumstances, unattached fencers might also be permitted to retain GFA benefits. Any fencer who may have questions or issues wit h their primary affiliation must consult with GFA head coach to determine if GFA membership benefits can be applied.
    9. Membership fee is non - refundable.
  • GFA CLUB POLICIES

    1. All fencers must abide by GFA’s safety rules.
    2. During cross - training, warm - ups and private lessons, only knickers, sweatpants or medium to long length shorts are considered acceptable sportswear for athletes’ legs.
    3. Any damage incurred to GFA equipment, GF A owned or rented facilities or fixtures due to negligence, will be the financial responsibility of the person or persons that caused the damage.
    4. Free - fencing (or free - bouting) in any weapon is not allowed while classes are being held in that particular w eapon.
    5. Videotaping of private or group classes is NOT permitted.
    6. Only official GFA coaches (permanent or invited) are allowed to give fencing lessons (individual or otherwise) within the confines of GFA.
    7. Only GFA coaches can approve any changes in a fen cer's group class level. Also, to be considered for any Advanced Foil Class, a fencer must be at least 12 years old or have Y14 national points.
  • CANCELLATION POLICIES

    1. 24 hour advance notice is required for all cancellations, and you must schedule a subs titute time with the coach. Otherwise, you will be charged for the missed lesson.
    2. Less than 24 hours notice is allowed for medical reasons only and you must arrange a substitute time within the same week. Otherwise, you will be charged for the missed less on.

    Signing below means that you have read and agree to abide by the policies and safety rules contained in the above 2021-2022 GFA Membership Form.

  • Permission is hereby granted for the Gutkovskiy Fencing Academy (GFA) to publish photo(s) including the following person(s)

    on the GFA Website, post card, flyer and/or in publicity articles for the purposes of promoting /publicizing GFA events and activities.

    Photos are to be used for NO other purpose by the GFA without specific written permission.

    By signing this form, I hereby agree that the GFA and its board and members assume no liability from the publication of these photos on the GFA website or in articles publicizing GFA events/activities.
