Please note that we will not be able to adopt outside of Canada due to inability to perform the full adoption process for out of country applicants. We appreciate your support for rescue dogs and highly encourage you to reach out to your local shelter and rescue.

Freedom Dog Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run organization based in Ottawa, Ontario. Our dogs often receive multiple applications to ensure we find the best match.

Local applicants will be prioritized for in-person meetings.
If an out-of-town applicant is chosen, they must travel to Ottawa to meet the dog before adoption—this is mandatory.
The out-of-town applicant is responsible for all costs associated with transportation and pickup.
If the dog is young or requires additional veterinary appointments in Ottawa, the applicant must either return to Ottawa or work with a designated veterinary clinic approved by our vetting team.

Indoor Pet and Family Member
Any dog adopted from Freedom Dog Rescue is to be kept as an indoor pet and treated as a member of my family.

Medical Care and Preventative Treatment
I will provide the adopted dog with all necessary vaccinations, licenses, heartworm and flea prevention, as well as any medical treatment that may become necessary for its well-being.

Return of the Dog
If for any reason I can no longer care for the adopted dog, I agree to return it to Freedom Dog Rescue. Freedom Dog Rescue retains the right to reclaim any dog that has been found to be abused, neglected, or placed in an unsuitable living situation that is not in the dog’s best interest.

Veterinarian Release
I hereby give permission for my veterinarian to release information about any pets I have owned (whether living or deceased) to Freedom Dog Rescue for the purpose of this adoption.

Freedom Dog Rescue’s Right to Refuse Adoption
Freedom Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption to any applicant. Any misrepresentation of facts may result in my being denied approval to adopt a dog from Freedom Dog Rescue.

Spay/Neuter and Adoption Contract
If accepted as an adopter for a dog with spay/neuter contract, by submitting this adoption application, I agree to adhere to all of the terms of the adoption contract, including the clause related to spaying or neutering the adopted dog as booked by Freedom Dog Rescue Vetting Team. I understand that failure to attend the scheduled spay/neuter appointment will result in the dog being removed from my care without the refund of my adoption fee.
