    THE WORLD SERIES OF COMEDY 

     FESTIVAL REGISTRATION IS OPEN

    Registration for the contest part of The World Series of Comedy is closed for 2022. You can still register for the Festival taking place in Las Vegas Sept 11-17. With your festival registration you can get one a spot in one of our late night registered comics show and you can take part in all of the networking and seminars taking place the week of the festival.

  • PERFORMING LIVE
    When you perform at a Live Satellite you get seen by decision makers from the host comedy club. This means that even if you don't win the Satellite, you could end up getting work. Think of it this way - in addition to performing in a contest, you are also showcasing live for the club.
     
    You also earn extra points towards your overall score on the year. The higher your score is, the better chance you have of being picked for the Top 101 of The Main Event.
     
    The Top 40 get in from their video submission. Everyone who has added a Satellite to their registration has a chance to perform live at that Satellite.
     
    As always, your registration for The World Series of Comedy is a registration for The Main Event. That means access to video submission feedback, the opportunity to perform at The Main Event (even if you are not in the Top 101), and the chance to participate our week-long comedy conference - complete with daytime seminars and networking opportunities - all designed to help you get paid work around North America.
  • THE MAIN EVENT
    The Main Event is much more then just a contest. It is a week-long job fair, networking event, professional development, peer feedback and contest, all rolled into one.
     
    If you have never been, we highly recommend asking someone that has about their experience. It is always way more than anyone expects.
     
    The contest portion:
    Based upon your video submission score (and any bonuses you earn through Satellite events) you may qualify for the Top 101. The winner of The World Series of Comedy every year comes from the Top 101 contest at The Main Event. All shows are watched and judged by industry insiders, including club managers and bookers. Even if you don't advance from your show, you can still book work from your performance.
     
    Additional stage time:
    If you don't qualify for the Top 101, we will still find stage time for you to perform at The Main Event. We often add as many as 3 extra shows in order to give our registered comedians a chance to perform in the same environment as the Top 101.
     
    All the extras: 
    • free headshots, stage shots and performance video
    • daytime seminars to help you advance your career, everything from joke writing, to video submission tips, to the finances of being a road comedian
    • networking events - we usually have poker and bowling nights where you can meet industry insiders in a laid back environment
    • everyone is onsite all week - you are going to bump into industry at post-show meals or in the bar... its a great time to get to know them and maybe even book a gig
    • maybe the best part is getting to meet 150+ comedians from around North America who share your passion for comedy - we have seen many people we know only met at The Main Event do shows together, or even get each other showcases at their homes clubs

  • The McCurdy's Comedy Theatre Satellite is no longer free with your registration. It now cost $25 plus the cost of normal registration which is $75. If you would like to add this Satellite to your registration you must pick the ALL REMAINING SATELLITES & THE MAIN EVENT $100 option.

    Registration for this Satellite Closes March 19

  • Go ahead and pick one Satellite with your registration and as soon as we get your completed registration we will upgrade you to all of the remaining Satellites.

  • The Main Event will be held live. It is a 7 day event with the Top 101 contest, daytime seminars, networking opportunities and free headshots, stage shots and video of your performance. The Main Event will be held Sept 19-24 location TBA

  • Are you sure you do not want to pick a Live Satellite?

    Performing at a Satellite can increase your overall score and help you get picked for the Top 101 of The Main Event. You could also get work from any of the industry and/or comedy club owners and bookers that are part of these events and see your performance.

    Satellites are also a good way to gauge if your video is good. If your video is not strong enough to get you into a Satellite, then there is a good chance it will not be good enough to get into the Top 101 of The Main Event. This will give you an early warning and give you time to submit another video for The Main Event.

  • If you are not picked for a Satellite you could still be picked as one of the Top 101 comics for The Main Event. Performing at a Live Satellite will increase your score and help you get picked for the Top 101 of The Main Event.

    YOUR VIDEO IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT

    ALL COMICS WILL BE PICKED TO PERFORM IN THE SATELLITES AND THE TOP 101 OF THE MAIN EVENT FROM THEIR VIDEO

  • 5 MINUTE YOUTUBE VIDEO
    We would like your video to be at least 5 minutes long. It doesn't have to be 5 minutes long, but that is best for you. Sending in a short video hurts your chances of being picked. The video can be longer, but we will not watch more than 5 minutes. We will be watching the first 5 minutes, so if you have a 2 minute interview or intro or something that is not your standup, then less of your material and performance will be reviewed and that will hurt your chances of getting selected for The World Series of Comedy. 
  • DO'S AND DON'TS
    Things that will hurt your chances of being picked to perform:
     
    • Make sure we can see and hear you. We have gotten videos that look like they are shot from outer space
    • Use a tripod or some kind of holder for your phone. Don't have your friends sitting next to the camera laughing like a nut or shaking the camera while they hold your phone
    • If you are going to use your phone turn it sideways (use landscape mode) so the video fills the screen
    • Make sure it has VIDEO not just audio
    • Your video should be infront of an audience like a comedy club, one nighter fundraiser we dont care we just want you infront of an audience. ZOOM show videos are hard to judge and could hurt your chance of being picked to perform
    • Be careful with autofocus mode - it often makes you blurry every time you move
    • A good tip is to offer to film people before you on the same show, so you can check lighting and audio levels before you go up
     
  • YES YOU CAN EDIT
    It's OK to send a video that has been edited. The video doesn't have to be edited, but it's OK to do so. Do not go nuts on the editing. Do not edit within a joke. We want to see the complete joke. We prefer (as do most comedy clubs) that you submit an unedited video with your name at the beginning and your best 5 minutes.
     
  • SUBMITTING YOUR YOUTUBE VIDEO LATER
    If you don't have your video link ready at this time you can finish your registration so you can get the Live Satellite deals. Once we receive your completed registration form we will email you the deadline dates to give us your video and a link to a form to submit your video.
  • VIDEO FORMAT
    Your video must be submitted to us as a YouTube or Vimeo link. We will also accept a link on theComicList.com to your premium profile. If your video is given to us any other way, it will not be reviewed. Please make sure your video link works and it goes to the video you want us to watch. Make sure it's not unlisted.
     
    A good test you could do is to email the link to yourself or a friend. Click on it and see if it works. There are several Video Judges watching your video and we may not watch your video for months after you register so do not add a new video of you getting high with your friends after you register or that is the video we will watch and that will not get you picked.

    Be careful to not accidentally send a timecoded link from YouTube - i.e. one that starts mid-set when you click on it.
