STATEMENT OF FAITH
By signing this document, I acknowledge that the Statement of Faith represents the beliefs held by Light of Christ Christian Academy.
We believe in the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:18-19 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
We are saved by God’s grace alone. We cannot save ourselves. By nature, we are sinful and unclean. We praise God for Jesus who paid the ultimate price for our sins, so that we might live forgiven and set free. We receive this gift of salvation through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
The entire Bible is God-breathed, eternal, and inspired without error. We humble ourselves before God’s Word, which is the primary way that the Holy Spirit convicts, enlightens, and empowers followers of Jesus today.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is truly God and truly man. God sent His Son into the world to save the world, and not to condemn it. The Holy Spirit is working to bring people into a saving relationship with the Father through the Son.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
God alone is worthy of all our praise. We ask God to forgive us of our arrogance, fill us with Holy Spirit humility, and to show us how to honor Him in all that we think, say, and do.
1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Whoever wants to be great must be a servant to all. Jesus tells us that as we serve the hurting, and often forgotten, people in this world, we are actually serving and glorifying God. We seek to serve as Jesus came to serve.
Matthew 20:25-28 But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
We are in the world but not of the world. As our relationship with God grows, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are changed; we become less like the world and more like Jesus.
Colossians 3:1-2 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
Our first responsibility is to have a personal, loving relationship with the Heavenly Father. Through this relationship, God’s Spirit empowers us to love others as ourselves.
1 John 4: 10-11 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
We believe that our faith is to be visible in our daily lives. We should seek to serve God by using the unique gifts that he has given to each of us.
Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
We affirm that God created us male and female, and these two distinct, complementary genders together, reflect the image and nature of God. The Bible states that it is God’s will and intention that human sexual expression and fulfillment take place only within the boundaries of marriage, between one man and one woman. The Bible also affirms that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one biological man and one biological woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.
Genesis 2: 23-24 Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all of its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.
Psalm 139: 13-14 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
We understand that parents need support to parent Biblically. As such, we will provide parenting seminars throughout the year. These two-day seminars will go for a few hours on a Friday evening and wrap-up for a couple of hours on a Saturday. We ask that parents commit to attending two seminars during the school year. We also encourage our parents to attend Bible studies at their home church, or to attend those offered by the Academy. Utilizing these resources will help us to raise our children, who belong to God, according to His ways.
Isaiah 54: 3 All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.
