Sewer service is available now!
To connect to sewer:
In addition to annexation, residents of the neighborhood had requested the extension of sewer service to those properties not already served. A City of Columbia Sanitary Sewer Capital Improvement Project (CIP SS7447) is underway to provide this service, and is nearing completion.
Many properties in this area did not previously have sewer service available.
The City of Columbia is invested $3.1 million to construct approximately 6,000 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer in order to provide this service to:
- Garden Springs Road
- Dantzler Drive
- Towhee Drive
- Fleetwood Drive
- Windwan Drive
Q: If my property is annexed into the City, will I be required to tap into the City sewer system? No. If you have a septic system in good working order, you are not required to connect to the sewer system, even if you annex into the City limits.
Q: If my property is not annexed, can I still tap into the City sewer system? Yes, as long as your property is adjacent to the City sewer line. You are not required to annex into the City to receive sewer service, but your water and sewer rates will be cheaper, along with other benefits.
Q: How do I tap into the sewer once it is completed? Start by applying for sewer service with Engineering Special Services, and pay the required fees. Service has been stubbed out to the homes in this area, but you will need to hire a plumber to connect you to the sewer service. Contact Engineering Special Services at 803-545-3400 or EngSpecialServices@columbiasc.gov.
