    UNIT TECHNICIAN EVENING CHECKLIST

  • Unit Number*
  • Power & Electronics

  • I plugged unit into exterior power & made sure the RED light illuminated.*
  • I verified the unit overhead AC (if it is Summer) or the unit floor heater (if it is Winter) is running.*
  • I plugged in the unit otoscope.*
  • I checked the unit phone for any last minute emails & then plugged it in.*
  • Unit Janitorial

  • I checked the unit sharps container. If it was more than 1/2 full, I emptied it in the large sharps bucket in the doctor's office bathroom & returned it to the unit.*
  • I took any dirty unit rugs into the doctor's office and started a laundry cycle with them.*
  • If lift table mat had become too dirty to clean with table spray, I hung it on the outdoor clips on the wall by the inventory pad, and replaced it with a fresh mat from the outdoor storage chest.*
  • I swept the unit floor and wiped down unit floor, counters & lift table.*
  • I emptied unit vacuum(s)*
  • I emptied & relined all unit trash cans*
  • Unit Water Reset

  • I emptied the "Black Water" jug from beneath the unit sink.*
  • I refilled the "Clean Water" jug from beneath the unit sink from the refill valve outside the doctor's office entry door (Summer) or within the doctor's office bathrooms (Winter).*
  • Unit Lab Samples & Euthanasia Care

  • Were there lab samples in the unit refrigerator?*
  • I spun down any such relevant lab samples in the doctor's office centrifuge.
  • All lab samples have been packaged together in the appropriate security bag
  • I placed any such relevant lab samples in the IDEXX Lab box outside the doctor's office entry door.
  • I took any euthanized pet corpse(s), properly tagged it for cremation, and put it in the deceased pet freezer outside the doctor's office door.*
  • Inventory Reset

  • I checked paper towel stock & briefly surveyed unit inventory in order to add any obviously needed items to the inventory-needs list I had been compiling throughout the day.*
  • Using my complete unit inventory needs list, I pulled needed inventory items from the Unit inventory area in the doctor's office.*
  • For any medication refills pulled from the doctor's office, I updated the Expiration and Lot# on the unit bottle?
  • For any refilled unit medication bottle whose Expiration & Lot number label was full, I placed a new Expiration/Lot# label on the bottle and updated it.
  • I took all the needed inventory items I pulled from the doctor's office and re-stocked them into their proper place in my unit.*
  • Final Shutdown

  • I made sure all unit lights were off, locked all unit doors, and returned unit key to key rack in doctor's office.*
  • I took the unit money bag back to the doctor's office for overnight storage.*
