• Request a Makerspace Appointment

  • Can’t attend the makerspace drop-in hours or need assistance with the equipment? Request a makerspace appointment at Chinguacousy, Four Corners or Springdale branch to access makerspace equipment with staff assistance.

    Please note: You must attend an in-person consultation in order for your job to be completed. Library staff cannot prepare it for you, but will provide assistance with preparing and/or executing your project during your appointment.

    You may request a maximum of two (2) makerspace appointments per seven (7) day period.

    Once your request is received, staff will contact you to arrange an in-person booking.

      • Lulzbot Mini (Springdale and Chinguacousy only)
    • Desktop cutting machines
      • Cricut Maker 3
      • Roland GS-24 (Chinguacousy only)

      • Elgato VHS-Digital converter 
    • Button makers (Springdale only)
      • 1 inch pin-back button
      • 2.5 inch pin-back button

    3D Printing
  • 3D Printing Guidelines 

    • 3D printing is available free of charge to library members on a limited basis.
    • 3D printing requests are limited to a maximum of two (2) jobs per library cardholder per week (7-day period).
    • Print time must not exceed 6 hours.
    • During your appointment staff will help you prepare your 3D print, however your print job may not be executed immediately depending on equipment availabilty and estimated print time. Longer prints will need to be queued.

    Desktop Cutting Machines: Cricut Maker or Roland GS-24
  • Cutting Guidelines 

    • Cutting requests are limited to a maximum of two (2) cut jobs per library cardholder per week (7-day period).
    • The Cricut Maker 3 is avaiable at all makerspace locations.
    • The large format Roland GS-24 vinyl cutter is available at Chinguacousy branch only.
    • Up to 12x24 inches of adhesive vinyl will be provided free of charge, or bring your own materials to cut.

  • Digitizing Guidelines

    Digitizing appointments can be booked for up to 90 minutes.

    Scanning:

    • The Canon 9000F Mark II Scanner includes attachments for digitizing 35mm photo negatives and medium format slides.
    • This scanner is not appropriate for most document scanning.

    VHS-Digital:

    • The Elgato Video Capture Device converts analog video from VHS to a high-quality digital file.
    • VHS-C Cassette Adapter can play VHS-C and Super VHS-C camcorder videocassettes in a standard standard VCR.
    • Personal use only. These devices cannot be used to digitize material protected by copyright. 
    • Digitizing occurs in real time, e.g. a 1 hour video tape will take 1 hour to digitize.

    Button Maker
  • Button Making Guidelines

    Button Making appointments are up to 30 minutes long. 

    • 1-inch and 2.5-inch pinback button makers are currently available at Springdale branch only.
    • You must bring your own printed material to make the buttons from; colour printing is not available at the library.
    • Design your own design at Button-Designer.com
    • Templates are also available at People Power Press  which you can download to use with other design software. 
    • In your button design, allow for a margin of least a 1/4 inch. 
    • Limit of ten (10) pin-back buttons per person per week (7-day period).
