Evidence of Learning Boards
Student Work Display
These boards exclusively showcase the work produced by the Milestone students. This can include drawings, paintings, crafts, worksheets, and other creative projects that the students have completed during the week.
- If there is more than one board in the classroom each board must represent a different learning domain. (ie Literacy, Math, Science, Language Development, Art, or Pre-Reading/Pre-Writng.
Explanation of Work
Each piece of child's work displayed on the board is accompanied by a brief explanation in the center of the board. The explanation highlights the educational objectives or skills that the activity aimed to develop. It could also mention the concepts covered or learning goals achieved through the activity. (These are provided by the director, AD, or ES)
Weekly Rotation
The content on the boards is refreshed on a weekly basis. This rotation allows for a dynamic display that reflects the ongoing learning journey of the students. It provides an opportunity to regularly showcase the diversity of the activities and skills being developed in the classrooms.
Overall, Evidence of Learning Boards serve as a visual representation is the student's progress, helping to engage parents, caregivers, and school staff in the duration process. The boards not only celebrate the achievements of the students but also provide insights into the curriculum's effectiveness and the learning goals being pursued in the classroom.
Family Style Dining
Family Style dining in a preschool setting involves creating a mealtime experience that fosters social interaction, communication, and independence among the children while promoting healthy eating habits. Here are the steps involved in implementing family style dinging at Milestone:
Table Preparations:
Set-up the students table in a way that encourages interaction and collaboration. Use child friendly utensils, plates, cups, and napkins that are easy for students to access and use. Make sure the tables are clean and inviting.
Meal Presentation:
Place a variety of dishes with different food, utensils, and beverage items at the center of each table. Offer all components at each table provided to the classroom.
Serve Yourself:
Encourage children to serve themselves. This promotes autonomy and decision-making as they choose their portions and foods. Teachers can assist younger children when needed but should encourage independence.
Modeling the Behavior:
Teachers and staff play an important role in modeling appropriate behavior during mealtime. They can demonstrate proper use of utensils, table manners, and positive communication.
Social Interaction:
Family style dining is an opportunity for students to interact with their peers and teachers in a relaxing setting. Encourage conversation, sharing food, and polite conversation. This helps develop social skills and sense of community.
Adult Involvement:
Teachers sit with students during meal, fostering a sense of togetherness and supervision. They can engage in conversations, facilitate discussions about the food, and provide assistance when needed.
Positive Reinforcement:
Acknowledge and praise good eating habits, positive interactions, and table manners. This creates a positive atmosphere and encourages children to adopt healthy behaviors.
Time for Conversation:
Use mealtime as an opportunity to discuss the food being served, where it comes from, review of curriculum done that day, and what to look forward to after the meal.
Clean-up:
Teach the students the importance of cleaning up after themselves. Encourage them to clear their plates, dispose of waste properly, and pick up all waste from the table and floor. Teachers will wipe the tables and clear remain food before returning dishes to the bin.
Diaper changing procedures in preschools are important to ensure the safety, hygiene, and comfort of young children. While specific guidelines may vary from one preschool to another, the following are general diaper changing procedure that should be followed in a Nevada preschool:

- Use the safety straps or harness on the changing table is available.
Remove the Soiled Diaper:
- Carefully open the child’s diaper.
- Use the front of the dirty diaper to clean off as much feces as possible and fold it under the child.
- Use wipes to clean the child’s genital area gently, wiping from front to back for girls and being thorough but gentle with boys.
Dispose of Soiled Diaper and Wipes:
- Roll up the soiled diaper and secure it with the tabs.
- Place it in a plastic bag or designated diaper pail for disposal.
