This entry form is for the Swanage & Purbeck heat of the competition, open to candidates resident (or at a school within) in the Swanage & Purbeck area.

For completion by parent/guardians for all candidates who will be under 18 on 31st August 2025.

Competion Details

The competition will take place in Swanage Methodist Church on Sunday 2nd February, starting - to be confirmed - at around 2 pm.

Entries will be assessed separately for those in KS1/2 and then later in the afternoon, KS3-5.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in both sessions, and for both instrumental and vocal catagories.

For electric guitar, please bring your own amplifier and necessary equipment. You are not required to provide 'conventional' sheet music notation, and you may include some improvisation.

You can play along to a backing track, but your solo part must not be present in the backing track.

Music KS 3-5

Maximum length of performance: 10 Minutes. Up to 3 contrasting pieces, or one piece with contrasting elements.

You will NOT be disqualified if your performance overruns by up to 2 minutes, provided that by so doing it enables a single work to be performed that would otherwise not be possible. The adjudicators may however lower marks a little if they feel the extension is unwarranted.

Music KS 1 & 2

Your programme should be up to 6 minutes in duration. If a specific piece requires an extra few minutes to complete properly, there is no penalty, provided it is one single, stand-alone piece. There is no minimum duration and marks will not be added for using the full six minutes.
