As some of you may have heard, Air Canada has cancelled all direct flights to and from Baltimore (BWI) as part of a global schedule change announced recently. As a result, Air Canada has re-assigned all passengers to new flights to and from Washington (IAD or DCA) instead of Baltimore (BWI) as originally booked.
Note: If you booked a flight to Baltimore and didn’t receive a flight change notice from Air Canada, check your spam folder or visit aircanada.com and click on “My Bookings” (under the first banner) to access your reservation using your booking number and last name.
Because of the Air Canada flight changes and the limited availability of flights to BWI (connecting through Chicago or Detroit), we are thrilled to offer a bus option that is cheaper and more efficient than flying. The drive is about 8 hours each way, whereas connecting flights to Baltimore (BWI) will take longer and cost more.
The bus from Toronto to Baltimore and back is $300 CAD roundtrip. The bus will depart from the Toronto area on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at approximately 6:00 AM and return to Toronto on Monday, February 21, 2022 at approximately 8:00 PM*. This means you must be registered for Summit or interested in changing your IC registration to include Summit if you want to ride the bus both ways. The cost to ride the bus one-way only, from Baltimore to Toronto on Monday, will be $180.
For anyone who has already booked flights to Baltimore, you are eligible for a full refund from Air Canada due to the change. Visit aircanada.com, click on “My Bookings” (under the first banner) to access your reservation using your booking number and last name, then click "Cancel Booking" (or contact Air Canada customer support: 1-888-247-2262).
*More information, including confirmed departure time and location, will be sent by email to registered participants and parents approximately one month prior to IC.
Note about Flying to IC:
All participants flying to IC must land at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) no later than 3:00 PM ET on your arrival day (Wednesday if you're attending Summit or Thursday if you're attending IC only) and depart no earlier than 11:00 AM ET for departure on Monday. Upon your arrival, BBYO staff and IC volunteers will be stationed throughout Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), wearing colorful BBYO vests and holding BBYO signs. They will help direct you to the meeting areas for our shuttles from BWI to the hotel. BBYO is unable to provide shuttles from/to any other airports. If you received new flights from Air Canada to and from IAD or DCA instead of BWI, you will need to contact Air Canada to rebook on flights to BWI (likely connecting through Chicago or Detroit).
