Promotional Event
Paid activity = $100

Host an event to get the word out about the USP. You make it as fun and interesting as you want as long as it complies with your campus rules for safe gatherings and your Off Campus Study Coordinator approves. Host an info session, put up a table to get the word out, sponsor some event on campus, plan a mid-morning coffee break for faculty, order pizza, make Rolexes and tea… show pictures, talk about your experiences and what you learned… We are open to your ideas and we will provide material, reimburse you up to $100 for any food/supplies you purchase for the event, and pay you a $100 stipend for your time and energy.

Promotional Event Interest Level:

Recruiting individual students (promo during Spring 2023 for Fall 2023)
Paid activity = $50 gift card to an online retailer of your choice for each applicant!

For each student you encourage to apply, who pays their confirmation deposit for the Fall 2023 semester (and who are not already in our inquiry or application system) you will receive a $50 gift card. (Students do not need to be from your home campus - it could be a friend at another university.)

You can receive multiple gift cards if you recruit multiple students! And they do not need to be from your university. That student should also list your name in the answer to the question, "If a specific person influenced your decision to apply, please provide their name and email address."

Recruiting a Fall 2023 Student Interest Level:

Speak in a class or in front of a student group
Paid activity = $25 gift card to an online retailer of your choice

There are a few ways to get yourself invited to talk about the USP in a campus class, group, or club. The most important thing is to meet up or check with your off-campus coordinator, advisor, or faculty member to let them know what a great experience you had and to volunteer to talk about it in the manner that best suits them. They can often suggest the best classes and time frame. Usually it’s just 3-4 minutes (with a few photos or a 30 second) at the start of class talking about your experience. The best thing is to keep it simple (i.e. what are 3 key things you learned about yourself, your field of study, or your faith during the program – and what was it about Uganda or Ugandans or the program that helped you learn them.)

Supporting UCU is one unique and effective way to give-back in a sustainable and empowering way. Share your experience at UCU and the importance of supporting the education of African students with a group of people at your church, school, or other community you are involved with. We will equip you with the information and material you need to connect your network to the exciting developments and amazing work of UCU.

UCU Support-Raising Interest Level:

Create a Video for our USP YouTube
Paid activity = $15 gift card to an online retailer of your choice

This should be a minute or less. It does not have to be flashy or technical (you can shoot it on your smart phone), but it does have to be interesting and the camera work should be clean. The video should be about your experience, and could even just be one thing you learned about your major, your faith, or yourself in Uganda (but it needs to include how Ugandans or the USP helped you learn that). Any music you use should checked to be Ad Supported Music on YouTube.

Meet up 1-on-1 with an off-campus coordinator, your advisor, or faculty member
Volunteer activity

Asking for 20-30 minutes when you return to process your experience with someone on campus who is in a position to help the next wave of students from your campus attend the USP, can be a meaningful way of processing for you. And it will help the staff member catch a clearer understanding of the program and why they should send students.
