REQUIREMENTS UPON ACCEPTANCE INTO THE COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
- Must be available to attend all classes:
- Course dates will be held Mondays – Thursdays, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM; April 1 – 25, 2024.
- Must be able to attend weekly throughout the month of February 2024 to prepare for CDL permit testing.
- Must be able to attend soft skills training in month of March 2024.
- Must complete the following at a college-designated clinic (scholarship will pay the fees):
- DOT Physical - DOT Chain of Custody Drug Screen
- Results must be negative. Negative-dilute results will not be accepted. Results cannot be dated more than 30 days before April 1, 2024.
- Must provide below documents by deadline.
- Motor Vehicle Report from the past three years. Results cannot be dated more than 30 days before April 1, 2024.
- Provide copy of driver’s license and social security card
- Students must have learner’s permit before second week of class. Students will be reimbursed for permit fees and commercial license fees upon submission of receipts.
- Once accepted, all students must agree to meet deadlines for the screening requirements.
- Students who do not turn in the required documentation by the deadlines will not be accepted into the program.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the Vivian Conatser-Turner Early Learning Center, 1313 Clarkview Street SW, Decatur, AL 35601. This is the childcare location.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from Calhoun Community College, Decatur Campus, 6250 US Highway 31 North, Tanner, AL 35671.
- Must have a working telephone
By signing this document, I confirm that I have read all of the requirements for the Commercial Driver’s License Training Program funded through a grant provided by The Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham and will comply with all requirements. I understand that filling out this document does not constitute acceptance into the Program and that the screenings will not be funded until I am accepted into the program.
In addition to CDL Training, the course will also include CPR, OSHA 10, Soft Skills, mock interviews, and resume writing sessions.
