Surf Life Saving Queensland Education have an exciting opportunity for Volunteer Emergency Care Trainers/Facilitators to join our team! Working autonomously to deliver Emergency Care (First Aid, ART, CPR) training courses to club members, this is the ideal opportunity for someone passionate about making a positive contribution to SLSQ training and education.
As the delivery of CPR and/or First Aid does form part of the SRC and/or Bronze Medallion/ Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) course, we are currently seeking applications from interested and suitably qualified persons in all regions for the position of Emergency Care Trainer/ Facilitator (Volunteer Only) to facilitate emergency care training in the following regions;
- North Queensland
- North Barrier
- Wide Bay Capricorn - Sunshine Coast
- Brisbane
- Gold Coast (South Coast Branch and Point Danger Branch)
In this role you will:
- Facilitate engaging Emergency Care Training courses for club members
- Ensure learner engagement and achievement of learning outcomes for all candidates
- Comply with SLSQ Education delivery and assessment guides
- Be a positive role model to all candidates and conduct yourself in a manner that is beneficial to the Surf Life Saving movement.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Trainer and Assessor Skill Set
- Current Provide first aid (HLTAID011) and/or Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy (HLTAID015)
- Current Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (HLTAID009)
- 3+ Years training and/or industry experience
- Current SLSC membership
- Queensland Working with Children - Blue Card and have completed SLSQ CYRM/ SLSA CSA
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Active proficient Bronze Trainer and Assessor
- First Aid Industry experience
Successful Candidates will be required to:
- Attend an induction workshop (dates and locations TBA)
- Work under supervision until you are deemed competent
- Attend an annual workshop to maintain currency
Please note:
Applicants will not be required to train regional courses unless you would like to. SLSQ would like every club to be self-sufficient and have an Emergency Care trainer available to conduct First Aid and ART courses at their own club however the process for booking an Emergency Care course will remain unchanged.
Applicants that don’t hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be acting under the direct supervision model and will need a Direct Supervisor allocated. A Training Direct Supervision Record form will need to be completed for every course conducted where a Certificate IV holder is not present.
