Please read through the information below to learn a little about us:
At Frederick East Classical, we stand on four 'pillars.' Those pillars are
(1) We are classical, offering the classical education methodology. If you are unfamiliar with this, please let us know in the comments and we can send you an article about this.
(2) We are a cooperative and parents must either participate or 'buyout' that commitment. Some parents teach, others work in the office or grade papers. There is a job for everyone. We love to have everyone on site so discourage the buyout option.
(4) We are a community! We have seen great blessing and great tragedy within our group and seek to help one another through difficult times, but greatly rejoice and celebrate the good times!
(3) The fourth pillar is that we are Christian. We are Catholics and Protestants working together to educate our children. We have been asked if church attendance is necessary and we strongly encourage you to be a member of a local Catholic or Protestant church body, but realize that some also worship through home church. Another common question is in regard to other religious persuasions such as Latter Day Saints, Jehovah's Witness, Muslim, Hindu or other similar practices. We are happy to talk with you about our cooperative, but find that our Statement of Faith does not align with these religious persuasions, creating an uncomfortableness for your children. FEC does not propone other church founders, or 'additional' figures such as Joseph Smith, Muhammed and others to be lifted up or exalted. We also ONLY hold the Holy Scriptures to be from God. No additional works are acknolwedged by Christians. We have also had experiences where folks from these religious practices, once they 'shadowed,' were not happy with the references to God, Jesus as His Son and the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. Please carefully review this statement to make sure that you can agree to this:
Statement of Faith:
As partners with one another in the education of our children, it is necessary to ensure that we are in agreement regarding our expectations of one another. Therefore, we have set forth the guidelines below in order to ensure that we are all of like mind concerning the following important issues regarding our Faith, and the instruction of our children.
We believe in one God who is eternally present in three persons: God the Father the Almighty, the Creator of Heaven and Earth; God the Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer; and God the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son and animates the faithful. We believe that the Holy Trinity is one God existing in three persons, and three persons existing in one God. We believe that the triune God continues His work today.
-We believe the Bible to be the infallible word of God and hold it in highest esteem within the Christian faith. No other works (book of Mormon, the Koran, etc.) are held in such esteem.
-We believe that to be a faithful disciple of Christ involves having a personal relationship with Jesus our Savior.
-We believe that human life is sacred and we profess a pro-life worldview.
-We believe that God has ordained marriage to be between one man and one woman.
-We believe that Christians have a common enemy whose goal it is to divide believers and conquer the world. Our goal is to unify as Christians so we can, with God’s grace, overcome the evils of our society and spread the Gospel in our communities.
-We believe that to be respectful and accepting of the different Faith backgrounds (Catholic and Protestant) here at Frederick East Classical is to be a faithful and loyal servant unto the Lord.
