WHAT TO EXPECT?: The spray tanning session usually takes about 15 minutes, it may take a bit longer if its your first time getting a spray tan or if you have any specific requests or preferences. The actual spraying process itself is usually quite quick, but I do take my time to ensure an even application and to address any specific areas that may need extra attention. After the spraying process, your skin will be dried with drying powder before you are able to put your dark-colored loose fitting clothing back on. The tanning solution will give you an immediate bronzing effect. The bronzing effect is a result of the temporary bronzers in the solution that will remain on the skin until your first rinse. When you shower the bronzers will wash off to reveal your flawless spray tan.
WHAT DO I TAN IN?: It is recommended that you wear a dark-colored strapless bra, swimsuit or underwear to tan in. Keep in mind that whatever you tan in will result in those tan lines. Clothing is optional but this is up to you and your level of comfort. Disposable thongs and pasties are available at every appointment. The solution will wash out of most clothing but for best results wash the clothing worn as soon as possible to avoid any staining or color transfer.
PREPPING FOR YOUR TAN:
- Waxing, nails and lashes should be done BEFORE to your tanning appointment.
- Exfoliate skin at least 24 hours before appointment to ensure the most even glow possible. Any old tan must be removed before next appointment.
- Shave as you normally would no later than the NIGHT BEFORE, NOT RIGHT BEFORE your appointment. Shaving too close to your appointment time may cause the initial bronzer to settle into your pores.
- Moisturize and hydrate.
DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:
- Be sure your skin is free of any lotions, perfumes, makeup and deodorant at time of spray.
- Remove all jewelry before spray.
- Wear dark-colored loose fitting clothing after spray. Sweats and a long sleeved top is ideal. DO NOT wear a bra, leggings, jeans or closed toe shoes while your tan is developing.
- Avoid skin-to-skin contact while your tan is developing.
- Avoid sweating and contact with water while your tan is developing.
- It is normal to see bronzer build up in areas where the skin creases.
FIRST RINSE:
- Wait a minimum of 8 hours before your first rinse. For best results it is recommended to sleep in your tan, wake up and rinse.
- Rinse with warm water only until you no longer see bronzers in the water.
- Pat dry with towel. Do not rub your skin with towel.
24 HOURS AFTER SPRAY TAN:
- It will take 24 hours for your tan to FULLY DEVELOP so keep that in mind after your first rinse, you will still darken up a bit more.
- Avoid spraying perfume directly onto skin.
- Avoid using heavily perfumed body washes/lotions such as Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works and Dove.
- Moisturize twice a day and stay hydrated.
- Use a brand new razor when shaving.
- Spray tans do not protect your skin from the sun so be sure to apply SPF daily.
- Avoid aerosol sunscreens and deodorants.
- Prolonged exposure to hot water may result in premature fading.
- Avoid sweat belts as they will strip your tan.
BE ADVISED THAT EVERYONE'S SKIN IS DIFFERENT!: All ingredients used during this service are intended for cosmetic use and generally regarded as safe. There are, however, occasions where individuals may be allergic to one or more ingredients. Please request the ingredient list if you have any known allergies. There are a small percentage of people whose skin may not react favorably to spray tanning. For this reason, we DO NOT advise being tanned for the first time when your appearance is critical (weddings, photoshoots, etc.) Please be sure to schedule a trial tan first. For returning clients, tan 2-3 days before your event for best results.
CAUTION: Pregnant or nursing women should consult with their physician before first session. Spray tanning is not normally considered unsafe especially when ventilation and nose filters are provided. However, your medical care provider may prefer a more cautious approach based on your specific needs and health concerns. The spray tan solution used does not contain a sunscreen and will not protect you against sun damage. Repeated exposure of unprotected skin to UV light may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn. We always urge the daily use of a SPF.
