First 1-5 days:
When you leave the studio, your tattoo should be safely secured in saniderm or plastic wrap. Refer to the instructions that apply to you:
A. Saniderm (sticky adhesive sheet)
1. Leave on for about 3-5 days, unless otherwise specified.
2. Carefully remove the bandage under warm water, preferably in the shower, by peeling from the edges.
*If itching or burning, remove immediately. May be an indicator that you are allergic to saniderm.
-If it begins to peel sooner and your tattoo is exposed, remove it completely.
-There may be a buildup of liquid (blood/plasma/ink) within the saniderm. This is normal and part of the healing process!
OR
B. Plastic Wrap
1. Remove plastic wrap after 3 hours.
After removing the bandage:
1. Using an unscented, antibacterial soap, gently cleanse the tattoo area. Use ONLY your fingers and NOT a scrub or puff. Do NOT exfoliate the area.
2. Allow your tattoo to dry completely and gently pat dry using a clean paper towel. Do NOT rub with a bath towel.
3. Moisturize the tattoo area with a thin layer of unscented lotion (Lubriderm, Aquaphor, etc are some examples). Allow your tattoo to breathe as it heals.
Additional Notes:
Healing time can take approximately 3 weeks. Any itching, dryness, and peeling are normal. Allow the skin to naturally shed.
-Do NOT pick at or scratch your tattoo or you may damage it.
-Do NOT submerge your tattoo in open water (NO swimming in pools/ocean/lakes, soaking in baths, saunas, hot rooms, and etc).
-Do NOT expose your tattoo to the sun.
-Do NOT wear super tight clothing that may restrict the tattoo area.
A tattoo is an open wound. Please use this as a rough guideline to keep it clean to prevent infection.
Clean, moisturize and take care of your tattoo!
