Creative Greensboro, the City’s office for arts and culture, invites musicians to register for the fall semester of its volunteer City Ensembles program. 

Ages: High School to adult
Cost: $25-$35 depending on residency; Need-based fee assistance may be available 
Ensembles:

• Choral Society of Greensboro  
• Welcomes singers of all abilities to learn and perform repertoire ranging from symphonic choral works to traditional and contemporary choral literature under the direction of Dr. Jon Brotherton.
  Rehearsals begin September 2: Tuesdays, 7-9pm  
  Concerts: November 7 (fall concert) and December 9 (Messiah)

• Greensboro Big Band   
• Musicians with intermediate-to-advanced experience playing swing-style jazz music are invited to participate under the direction of Dr. John Henry.  Due to big band instrumentation, the number of musicians needed for performances is limited, so some musicians may be utilized as alternates. All registrants should mark "pay later" until Regular/Alternate placements have been established.  
  Rehearsals begin September 4: Thursdays, 7:00-8:30pm 
  Concert: November 9

• Greensboro Concert Band - WAITLIST ONLY - please mark "Pay Later"
• Welcomes individuals with previous band experience to participate under the direction of Kiyoshi Carter.  Enrollment is limited to the first 115 paid registrations.  
  Rehearsals begin September 8:  Mondays, 7:00-9:00pm 
  Concerts: November 22 and December 15

• Philharmonia of Greensboro: Invites those with previous orchestral experience to participate under the direction of Peter Perret.  We currently have a need for strings and trumpets.  The first rehearsal will be an opportunity for new members to determine if Philharmonia is a good fit; If you are a new member please mark "pay later" on your registration form.
• Rehearsals begin September 3: Wednesdays 7:00-9:00pm 
  Concert: November 20

Release and Indemnity Agreement:

I understand that participating in the class(es) or program(s) selected involves risk of injury. These risks include inclement weather, accidents while traveling, equipment problems or failures, contacts with actions of other participants, slips/trips/falls, and musculoskeletal injuries, among others. I choose for myself or for my child to participate in the selected programs despite the risks. By signing the registration form, I acknowledge all risks of injury, illness and death and affirm that I have assumed all responsibility of injury, illness or death in any way connected with participation in the program. I also agree for myself and for any child participant to follow all rules and procedures for the program and to follow reasonable instructions of the teachers and supervisors of the program. In return for the opportunity to participate in this program, I agree for myself and for my heirs, assigns, executors and administrators to release, acquit, waive and forever discharge any legal rights I may have to seek payment or relief of any kind from the City of Greensboro, its officers, employees, agents or its volunteers for injury, illness, death or property loss resulting from this program. If I am registering a child for a program, I agree that I am a parent, legal guardian, or am otherwise responsible for the child whose application I am submitting and that I release, waive, and discharge any legal rights that I may request on behalf of the child participant in the program. I also agree not to sue the City, its officers, employees or agents and agree to indemnify the City for all claims, damages, losses, or expenses, including attorney’s fees, if a suit is filed concerning an injury, illness or death to me or my child resulting from participation in the program. Permission is given for any emergency medical treatment which might become necessary and I agree to be responsible for the expense of medical treatment or service.

Image Release:

I, the undersigned, hereby consent to allow the exclusive use of, and relinquish all rights to, photographs, recordings and reproductions in any manner (including but not limited to the use of photos, video and audiotapes) of the likeness, voice, and/or activities of the participant and further authorize the City of Greensboro, its agents or assigns, to make unlimited use of such reproductions, including but not limited to print and/or electronically, broadcasting of the reproduction over radio, television, and on the internet with or without your name for any lawful purpose. I acknowledge that no compensation will be provided for such use by the City. I understand that this Release shall remain in effect unless a subsequent written notification is provided to the City.  

Non-Discrimination Policy:

It is the policy of the City that the City will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, sexual orientation or disability in  authorizing or making available the use of city facilities or in the delivery of city programs, services, or activities.

Code of Conduct Policy:

I understand that all participants of Creative Greensboro programs and events, both in person and online/virtual, are expected to treat staff and other participants with respect. I acknowledge that everyone has the right to enjoy this program without fear of harassment, discrimination, or condescension, whether blatant or via micro-aggressions.  I acknowledge that online actions can impact offline relationships and professional standing.

Creative Greensboro reserves the right to refuse admittance to, or remove any person from, any program or event at any time, in its sole discretion, for failure to comply with this Code of Conduct.

Confirmation:

By signing below, I am delivering an electronic confirmation that will have the same effect as an original manual paper signature. The electronic confirmation will be equally as binding as an original manual paper signature. I am agreeing to all the policies above and the information I have provided is correct.

Creative Greensboro recognizes that some musicians may require financial assistance in order to participate in our programs. We try to provide fee assistance to a limited number of participants each semester. The information requested below is confidential and is necessary to help determine the degree of need for each applicant. All information must be filled in or the application will not be accepted. If you are applying for assistance for multiple programs a separate application is required for each participant and for each activity.
