I will go to LSDVI's Baton Rouge campus to complete paperwork for a background check and drug test if I am cleared for the next step. I will commit to upholding student confidentiality and safety. I understand that volunteer service is a privilege that may be granted, revoked, or denied at any time in the school district's discretion. I understand that volunteers are not entitled to any payment, salary, or compensation of any kind from the Special School District. I understand that as a volunteer, I will be subject to the discretion of my supervising teacher and/or principal, and/or their designee. I agree to comply with standards of professional conduct including, but not limited to, displaying appropriate behavior, language and attire at all times while volunteering in any school-related program. I will treat all students and employees with respect. I will not emotionally or physically abuse any child or student. I will not commit any criminal act involving a student and will abide by district policy in interactions with students. I will not use tobacco or tobacco products, alcohol or illegal drugs or be under the influence of alcohol or any illegal drug while volunteering in any school-related program. If I am approved as a volunteer, I will report to the district’s Human Resources Department in the event I am convicted of or charged with any felony or abuse-related offence(s) prior to continuing volunteer service in the district.

We will email you letting you know if you are cleared to proceed to the next step for volunteering. Please note that if you are cleared to proceed to step 2, you will have to go to Human Resources on our campus in Baton Rouge to complete paperwork for a background check and drug test and to fill out a statement regarding our students' confidentiality and safety. Following our receipt of your background check and drug test results, we will notify you of your final clearance status and if you may begin volunteering.
