NAMPI Academy: The Role of FWA in Health Inequity and Disparities-Part 2 of 2
January 18, 2022 | 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM EST
Promoting health equity by addressing the health disparities in the U.S. health system is a priority for federal and state health care programs and private health plans. This two-part session takes a closer look at the bias within the system and within us as investigators. Participants will be challenged to think about fraud as part of a larger framework of health and prevention.
Part II - Uncovering and Disarming Bias
Personal experience, stereotypes, and cultural environment can all impact decisions and actions, often time without our own realization. While bias is implicit in everyday interactions, being aware of bias is important in successful problem solving, interactions, and case development.
This session will explore different types of bias including conscious and unconscious bias, cultural and systems bias; understanding how bias plays out in the workplace and where they influence decisions and team performance if left unchallenged; and tips to work around bias traps and embrace mindfulness, leading to successful teams and outcomes.
