• Help Us Make Grain Shark Even Better! We are always looking for ways to improve Grain Shark's service, either with new features or by tweaking current features to provide more value. I sit here and ponder all kinds of things that Grain Shark can build, offer, and improve on. Here are some of my latest thoughts that I would like your input on. Thanks in advance for taking the time to go through the questionnaire!
  • 1a. Would you like more futures update texts if you could have more selection?
  • 1b. If you could sign up for more optional futures updates, which ones would you select? (Choose multiple options)
  • 1c. Someone recently asked if we could send the futures updates in $CAD/bu or /T instead of the standard currency they are traded in. This would require a lot of work on the automation side, but it could be done.
  • 2. Would you prefer to see all varieties of crops in one category or would you like them split up? This change would not affect membership costs for crop selections. You would still pay 1 lentil membership price if you chose all 3 varieties, for example. This change could be applied to peas, lentils, and barley. (Choose multiple options).
  • 3a. Rank the following reports in order of importance for you. Click and drag to reposition the reports below.
  • 3b. If you ever felt like we were sending out too much information, which reports would you cut out? (Choose multiple options if you like).
  • 3c. Do you see value in the weekly price trend texts for pulses, feed grains, and other crops? (See example below). We are always trying to figure out ways to present local/relevant pricing without bombarding you with too many texts. There is a world where Grain Shark can build a more local/regional service but it would take a lot of time to figure it out. And maybe our time is better spent on other things haha.

  • 4. Would you be willing to pay an additional $150-$200/yr for more regular fuel & fertilizer analysis? This could include chart & price analysis, fundamental reports, news feeds & more specific recommendations.
  • 5. Here are some report ideas we have been brainstorming about or suggested by customers. What do you think?

  • Monthly futures summaries --a text that gives you the monthly changes for each commodity
  • Top bids of the week—a text that suggests some of the top bids that we have been hearing. It may be generalized or area-specific if we can figure out how to send it within the constraints of the characters we are allowed without over-sending info to you! Or it could be a new mobile page too.
  • Target Lists/Reminders—a mobile page that provides the latest target suggestions. Or a tab on the app that would provide an automated list of targets we would suggest based on chart patterns, historical pricing, retracements, and seasonal trends.
  • Bring back the World Crop Report—we used to send out a monthly-ish update on the current conditions of crops around the world. Did you see some value in that report or do you prefer to see those types of updates in our Week Ahead & In The News reports?
  • We spent a lot of time building and updating the profit and break-even report this year, adding new tabs and features to help with the planning stages of what to grow and what to avoid. Did you use the spreadsheet and find it valuable?
  • If I could set up automated pulls of my futures charts that show you where support and resistance levels are, my trendlines, and other stuff, would you check that info regularly? This may be on a mobile page, but it would more likely be on the app since automation is required.
  • 6. The next couple of questions will be about possible app features.

  • Target Notifications—If there was a way for you to set a target on futures or cash/basis, then you get a notification that the target has hit. Would that be of benefit to you? For example, you want to know when $700/T canola hits on May futures. You log in to the app, set the target notification, and then get a push notification from the app that says, 'Hey, your future target hit just now.' There is a lot of thinking that needs to go into the cash/basis notifications, so at the start, it would just be for the futures. But if set up correctly, it could be used for all crops we monitor.
  • Another target notification method could be resistance levels, gaps, and other chart analysis. For example, you could ask for a notification when a gap is filled or when a 50% retracement hits.
  • Price Checker—We can potentially build a calculator that compares the price you are being offered to our 10+ years of historical information. It would generate some results that tell you how the price compares to short/long-term averages for cash, futures, and basis. This is a very basic explanation and the idea can be built up substantially.
  • 7. Would you pay an additional optional fee for a monthly 'town hall type' online meeting? It could be exclusively Grain Shark content or we could invite speakers in to join me monthly. Discussing different market trends, news, things like that. With the option to ask me questions live. There are also some fun new apps & software that I have been testing that allow for more participation during meetings. We could run on-the-spot polls to get a sense of how the crowd is feeling about a market or about a certain crop. All anonymous of course. Just spit balling some ideas.
  • 8. Do you use YouTube for any of your research or marketing intel? We see some content providers on there and have always wondered who is spending the time watching them?
  • Thanks for taking the time to go through the questionnaire. We value all your thoughts & feedback as we consider the next steps forward to building & creating even more value for your Grain Shark membership.
