Purpose
The Frank Matrise, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was created to honor St. Joseph Alumni, Parent and Coach Frank A. Matrise, Jr. 's years of dedication and support of SJCA. This scholarship of $500 will be awarded annually to two deserving students - one male and one female, who are returning to St. Joseph Catholic Academy for their sophomore, junior or senior year. The money will be applied towards the winner’s high school tuition at St. Joseph Catholic Academy.
Eligibility
- Be a current SJCA student entering his/her Senior, Junior, or Sophomore year and registered to attend SJCA for the 26-27 school year
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Be heavily involved in life at St. Joseph Catholic Academy and contribute to the fabric of the school and Kenosha community.
Scholarship Requirements
- Be registered at SJCA as a 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student for the 26-27 school year.
- Submit an essay (minimum of 300 words) on the following topic - “All Your Dreams Come True If We Have The Courage To Pursue Them"- Walt Disney. How do your dreams help you have the courage to pursue your Catholic education?
- Include a copy of your first semester 25-26 report card.
- Optional: Provide one letter of recommendation from a St. Joseph Catholic Academy principal, faculty member, or coach.
- Complete a SJCA Financial Aide form in a timely manner, as required by the Admissions Office. (Financial need will be taken into account by the scholarship committee.)
All relevant documents must submitted together by March 15, 2026 with the scholarship application to be considered complete.
*Scholarships that are awarded may only be used towards billable tuition. Scholarships may not be used for fees or other charges which include but are not limited to hot lunch, athletics or clubs fees and books. Students who receive a scholarship and are later awarded a Wisconsin Parental Choice seat will forfeit their scholarship. Scholarships are prorated during the the duration of the school year.*
*All scholarship recipients are required to submit an impact statement that reflects on their experiences and the benefits of the scholarship. This statement must be submitted no later than May 1, 2026, as part of the scholarship agreement.*
