To do so, we are adding capacity to our Support Services team, of which the Finance Manager would play a crucial part.
About the Finance Manager
As a member of the Support Services team, the Finance Manager will serve the staff and ministries of Youth Unlimited by providing the reporting, processes, and support necessary to ensure: (1) the organization cares well for its donors, (2) decision-making is made with timely and accurate financial information, and (3) YU operates with a high standard of financial integrity and excellence.
Specifically, in this role you’d be responsible for:

Executing the financial operations of the organization including payroll, organizational accounting, managing cash receipts, pre-authorized giving, and banking;

Providing the necessary financial reports for the Board, auditors, and staff;

Ensuring compliance in finance including annual filings;

Acting as purchasing coordinator for all centrally ordered supplies, equipment, and services;

Supporting donor care by responding to issues related to giving, maintaining an accurate financial database, and delivering tax receipts;

Supporting staff care by providing necessary financial training and overseeing our benefits plan;
-
Supporting events by ensuring effective payment systems aligned with registration processes .
Under the direction of the Director of Support Services, the Finance Manager will also join in team-related projects and responsibilities such as quarterly mailings, back-up reception when required, and fostering a welcoming office environment.
This position is full-time working from our Jonesville Crescent Office in North York, but with flexibility to work from home for one day per week.
The salary for this position is determined on a scale based on education and experience, and is funded in part on a missionary basis, requiring the gathering of a personal support team.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with:

A passion and heart to see the transformation of young people in the Greater Toronto Area, particularly among those experiencing vulnerability;

A deep love for Jesus and a desire to serve in their gifting and lean into others’ gifting;

A servant-oriented and collaborative team player;
-
3+ years of experience and technical qualifications in general ledger and fund accounting and/or bookkeeping (a CPB designation would be an asset, as well as experience with NewViews software), and also experience in executing payroll; and
-
3+ years of experience in compliance in the charitable sector in Canada, including knowledge in corporate and charitable filings, as well as managing tax receipts and HST rebates.
