By signing this contract you also agree that you have no other contracts with another whelping service or agreements in place with a co-owner that would not allow you to use a whelping service.
Custom Whelping includes:
• Care for your pregnant bitch for at least 1 week prior to the scheduled whelp date of the puppies. Your bitch and puppies will be isolated from other dogs and any human visitors. You may visit your bitch and puppies but we ask that no more than 3 people visit at any time. You will be asked to leave your shoes in the front room and sanitize. If you have visited the vet office, been exposed to Parvo, or been at a dog event in the last 10 days, please do not visit. This is in the best interest of your puppies and our own personal dogs. If the bitch is nervous or still needs time to settle both parties agree to make an appointment when deemed safe.
• Your bitch and puppies will be given clean blankets and bedding as needed multiple times per day. Access to food and water 24/7 for the dam while nursing and the puppies are fed 3-4 times per day during weaning. Supplements and Calcium provided when necessary.
• Once the puppies are weaned, we do separate their area to a potty area, feeding area, and sleeping area. They will be introduced to lots of sounds and stimulation. If you have any special exercises or requirements please note it in the questionnaire attached.
• Administration of any drugs or supplements during the bitch’s stay, which is to be provided by the owner/owner’s veterinarian.
• Whelping the pups. If complications arise and trips to the vet are necessary, the bitch’s owner pays for the vet services. Any drugs used in the whelping process are to be provided by or paid for by the owner. This includes but is not limited to emergency C-sections, oxytocin, and calcium supplements. Owners can hand deliver or use delivery service.
• Optional trip to the vet for dew claw removal, tail docking, initial puppy checkup, and post whelp checkup of bitch, normally 1-3 days post whelp. These vet costs are the responsibility of the owner.
• Trip to vet for 1st round of puppy shots. These vet costs are the responsibility of the owner. Transportation cost for this appointment is $55 within 20 miles of our address. Out of 20 miles range cost may vary.
• Administration of de-worming and de-protozoa medicines. Some of these medicines we use keep the pups free from parasites throughout the time they are at Elegy Pet Service’s Kennel.
Medicine is paid by the bitch’s owner. Tolturzuril for Coccidia prevention is roughly $99 per bottle. Safeguard or Panacur is roughly about $27-85 per bottle. Pyrantel Pomoate is included in the whelping package. It is given to Dam and puppies at 2 weeks of age.
• Weaning of puppies starts around 3-4 weeks of age. The cost of the puppy food is to be paid for by the bitch’s owner. Puppies are fed Formula and weaned to Purina ProPlan Sport All Stages Food, unless other food is requested by the bitch’s owner. The bitch will be fed the same food during her stay. Please bring her current food with her so we may mix it or have a service like Chewy.com deliver the food to our home address.
• Staying at Elegy Pet Services until they are 8 weeks old. During those 8 weeks, pups are well socialized and are introduced to neurological stimulation, and puppy culture, socializing and stimulation activities. We also can administer the Volhard test if you wish at 8 weeks old. We will keep notes on the puppy’s progress each week and note anything we feel is important.

Whelping Services Options:
Custom Whelping Options are for any sized litter. 1 puppy constitutes a litter. If for some reason your puppies would not be born alive the whelping package will be refunded minus the cost of the board stay.
For over 8 puppies an additional fee will apply as needed.
Balance of the whelping services is due when the dam is dropped off/picked up to Elegy Pet Service’s Kennel. No exceptions unless agreed upon. If agreed to- balance can be made in payments. Total bill due once puppies have reached 8 weeks of age if they are remaining with us no exceptions.
At end of service an invoice will be sent to collect remaining balance for fees, transport, supplies, or any additional services offered.

The bitch’s owner also must have a credit card on file with the local vet clinic in case of emergency C-section or other illness at time of drop off. A pre-whelp exam may be required to establish your bitch as a patient and that exam cost and appointment transport fee is at the responsibility of the bitch’s owner.

Please note: Puppies may not leave until all expenses are paid in full. A charge of $75 per week per puppy will be assessed for each day over 8 weeks of age. To avoid issues with medication and dog food bills we recommend you use a delivery service and have the food and medications delivered and paid for ahead of time. Any leftovers will go home with you when you pick up your puppies.

These are subject to change based on current cost, owner is responsible for medication,travel, and exam costs.
Whelping Services do not include:
- Litter Registration(s) (example AKC, UKC, ABRA,ABA, NKC)
- Buy/Sell agreement for pups and or marketing the sale of puppies
- Dog food or additives
- Weaning supplies
- Puppy packs unless discussed.
- Veterinary assistance or well care in breeding, delivery, or post-delivery or health clearances for any pups or the bitch.
- Copies of applicable proof of clearances for sire and dam, titles or registrations on sire and dam, guarantees for pups.
What to bring with you when dropping your bitch off:
- Proof of current vaccinations.
- Food that she is currently eating (Need 1 weeks’ worth to mix with the Purina ProPlan Sport All Stages and transition to this food or feed provided food)
- Any supplements and medicine.
- Bedding or other items that belongs to her.
*Owner understands Elegy Pet Services is not responsible for any lost, damaged, destroyed personal items that have been dropped off.
Any materials not provided will be invoiced to Litter owner - wormer, puppy weaning formula materials, and food at the end of service.
- Puppies can remain in Elegy Pet Service’s care until 8 weeks of age or less if you choose a lower package. This includes being picked up by the owner or additional charges will be added. The owner of the female agrees to a charge of $75 per week per puppy for each week after 8 weeks of age.
-The owner of the female is required to provide food for the female and the puppies.
-Elegy Pet Services agrees to take excellent care of the female and her puppies. Using every precaution available to insure they are all healthy and happy. They are cared for just as our own whelping mothers are cared for. However some things are unpreventable no matter how well they are taken care of. The female and puppies will have access to 24 hour Vet service and the owner will be notified immediately of any situation that should arise. Any charges that occur during this time will be paid in full by the owner upon receipt from the Vet. Elegy Pet Services will not be responsible for any injuries, sickness and or death that occur while under the Veterinarian's care.
- Elegy Pet Services will not be responsible for any injuries, sickness and or death that are considered a normal and unpreventable occurrence when whelping puppies.
