    LEGACY ENDOWMENT FUND for PREACHING SCHOLARSHIPS, Inc.
  • The Legacy Fund is established to provide tuition assistance to those who are attending a recognized college founded in the Restoration Movement and are committed to full time pulpit ministry. The following information provides the guidelines for the general application and selection process.

    DATES OF SUBMISSION:  Anticipating a traditional two semester school year, applicant submissions should be received by the 15th of July for the following year. Summer semesters and individual courses are not generally accepted, however, if applicant desires special consideration for special course or alternate dates due to specific school schedules, exceptions to these dates may be presented for further consideration.

  • CRITERIA
    The applicant must be enrolled in a qualified Christian college with a minimum of twelve hours enrollment if a full-time student or six hours enrollment if a part-time student. Qualified colleges are subject to the founding documents of The Legacy Fund where colleges are positioned with the support of the Independent Christian Churches and similar Church of Christ churches of the Restoration Movement. Current qualified colleges include:

    • Central Christian College of the Bible, Moberly, Missouri
    • Dallas Christian College, Dallas, Texas
    • Manhattan Christian College, Manhattan, Kansas
    • Ozark Christian College, Joplin, Missouri

    ELIGIBILITY
    Applicants must indicate a commitment to Christian preaching as a calling or primary life focus. High school, college, and graduate students may apply as well as second career applicants.

    SELECTION
    Applicant selection recommendations will be made by the President or a committee appointed by the President. Final selection will be approved by the Board of Directors.

    FUNDS
    Award of scholarship funds will be given to the college for tuition after applicant is enrolled. Funds will be provided if available and at the discretion of the Legacy Fund. Historic scholarships have been for $2,000 per semester, however, no commitment or guarantee is made relative to the availability, number, or amount of scholarships to be awarded. While traditional two semester school years are anticipated, first semester tuition awards are not commitments for the following second semester. Second semester tuition awards are subject to information provided by the recipient as related to past semester activities and success, future enrollment in the second semester, available funds, and the approval of the Board of Directors subject to review and at their discretion.

    OBLIGATIONS
    Selected applicants who are awarded scholarships shall provide an acknowledgement letter to the Legacy Fund and agree to limited monitoring of achievements and grades during the course of the semester.

  • Applications can be made online, via email, or by mail as a hard copy.
    If using the online application form below, you may complete the form and either save it for further revisions or submit it directly to the Legacy Fund. This form will direct you through the process, interfacing with your personal email address, using Jotform as the online app service. Note that if you are submitting supplemental information, for example, reference letters, educational information, etc., you should clearly identify in the dialogue box what you are sending and whether it will be by email with any attachments noted or hard copy mail (USPS, overnight service, etc.) to the Legacy Fund address. Filling in this box is important to tell us to look for additional information from you.

    You may also print the application form and use it as a guide to create an application formatted as a computer document or hard copy. However, please provide all of the requested information and use the sequenced paragraphs, titles, and requested information as the outline for your application. Once your application is ready you may submit it either by email to gshort@thelegacyfund.net or by hard copy mail (USPS, overnight service, etc.) to the Legacy Fund address.

  • PRESENT EDUCATIONAL STATUS

    Describe current educational status, for example, high school level, year or semester in specified college, graduate or career applicant. Provide GPA or other information of high school or college courses to illustrate academic achievements as appropriate to educational level or specific situation of applicant.
  • PAST AND PRESENT CHRISTIAN INVOLVEMENT

    List church activities and other areas of Christian service in which applicant has been involved. Provide dates, length of service, and responsibilities to illustrate specific involvement. Letters of recommendation or commendation may be provided.

    Provide a brief description of why you are pursuing a preaching career. Give insight to your story, your feelings, and your commitment to Christian preaching.
