  • Different Volunteer Positions

    Different Volunteer Positions

  • Booth

This position is part of our Event Team. The Booth Team members are volunteers who are participating at in-person events & are working at our booth. This entails welcoming guests, peer-to-peer education, & providing additional services to them aimed at reducing harm. Volunteers participating with our Booth Team are doing the actual distribution of our goods & services which include substance testing, Narcan distribution, & more.

  • Outreach

Also part of our Event Team, the Outreach Team members act as our primary liaison at local events by conducting outreach & engagement activities. This includes actively roaming the event informing guests about our harm reduction booth & all of the services offered. Since not everyone is aware of the importance of harm reduction and substance testing, it would be your job to educate them. Members of the Outreach Team may carry brochures & flyers, test kits for on the spot substance testing, & Narcan.

  • Build

This position is part of our Event Team. The responsibilities of our Build Team are to help set up our booth prior to an event beginning & assist with taking down the booth & setting up at the end of the event. When working an event you are not required to do both set up & tearing down, although it is encouraged.

  • Not Local to Any Team?

Participate as a Local Roaming Harm Reduction Volunteers

This position is intended for individuals who want to offer Harm Reduction in communities that fall outside of areas where established teams are already offering service. This position entails providing a modified version of the services typically provided at in-person events by the Event Team. Instead of working with a team of volunteers or a Team Supervisor, our Roaming Harm Reduction Volunteers typically work independently & report directly back to HRC staff. Whenever necessary these outreach volunteers may submit requests for assistance from the Booking Coordinator to secure local bookings as needed. Once a booking is confirmed, our Roaming Harm Reduction Volunteers will be provided with supplies such as shirts, brochures & flyers, a complete testing kit, single-use test kits, fentanyl test strips, & Narcan.
