I applied but have been refused a Fuel Allowance payment
Please Note: The INOU does not process applications for Fuel Allowance and cannot provide any information on the status of any Fuel Allowance applications.
The Department of Social Protection processes and pays the Fuel Allowance. If your application for the Fuel Allowance has been refused, and you are dissatisfied with a decision not to grant an allowance, you may request a review of your claim by a different Deciding Officer in the Department of Social Protection.
Qualification for a Fuel Allowance payment is usually associated with your primary Social Welfare payment - i.e. Jobseekers, One Parent Family Payment, Disability Allowance etc. If you wish to request a Review of any decision regarding your entitlement / eligibility to Fuel Allowance you should contact the section that made that decision.
The Fuel Allowance scheme is administrative (non-statutory) scheme and decisions on eligibility or entitlement to the Fuel Allowance cannot be appealed to the Social Welfare Appeals Office - www.gov.ie/socialwelfareappealsoffice.
