Most pond aerators are external, and have stones or pads that are fed by airlines under the water. A floating aerator has no airlines and sits atop the water surface.

Diffused aeration works by having an external air pump that feeds air down lines to submersed pads. Surface aeration works by mixing water and air at the surface level.

Lakes can cover large areas and sometimes a single fountain can look a little lost. In some instances, more than one fountain is used to create more of a visual impact.

    Splitting your area

In situations where more than one focal point is desired, or that the lake is an awkward shape, we recommend splitting the surface area into two or more volumes.

For example; One aerator that can cover 2 acres, is the same as using four aerators that can cover ½ an acre each. However, the four aerators may be better for unusual shaped lakes, lakes with islands, or for those that wish for multiple focal points.
