Volunteer equipment instructor availability
Volunteer position description
The volunteer instructor position involves instructing both novice and experienced workshop users in how to use our equipment while keeping themselves, other members, and the equipment itself safe. You will be expected to guide learners through how to use the equipment, and to honestly evaluate if they are able to safely operate within a shared workshop space. We are willing to accept volunteers with a wide variety of experience, however we expect you to be very comfortable with the equipment you are teaching. We also prefer, but do not require, past experience working in any type of education - formal or informal.
Volunteer benefits
If you are accepted as a volunteer and can commit to scheduling at least 2 classes or 8 hours per month, you will receive a complimentary membership to Humanmade with full member benefits. After 1 year of volunteering, you also receive 2 free FSOs (Fundamental Safety and Operations) and are eligible to join a class that still has an opening immediately prior to the start of the class.

To maintain volunteer benefits we require you commit to at least two scheduled classes per month (2-4 hours each). Most volunteers schedule on a regular day / time, for example every other Wednesday. We schedule class dates ahead every 2 months.
Equipment instructor classes are scheduled mornings 10am - 1pm and evenings 5/6pm - 9pm on weekdays, and all day (10am - 9pm) on weekends. What days and times are your PREFERRED days to volunteer?
*
Please indicate ALL times you would be available to volunteer if your preferred time slots are not available, or if we need to request special assistance. This is NOT a commitment any of these times, just a way for us to understand your availability. We will always send you a request to confirm any change of date / time.
