WHAT IS WHALE SCOUT? Whale Scout is a local non-profit that leads land based whale watching experiences. Their mission is to channel people’s interest and passion about whales into volunteer habitat restoration projects that help support healthy salmon populations and protect the primary food source of the struggling Puget Sound orca whales.
WHEN: April 9, 9am-11am
WHERE: The former Wayne Golf Course, the City of Bothell’s newest park. Meet in the Blythe Park Parking Lot.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
At our work parties, Whale Scouts Director Whitney will teach the adult volunteers how to remove invasive blackberry canes. Younger volunteers will use natural woodchips to deeply mulch areas along the Sammamish River, preventing blackberry vine re-growth. There will also be a snack, a story and a game for the kids to play!
WHO CAN ATTEND: All ages, bring your kids!
WHAT TO WEAR: Weather appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes. Be prepared to get dirty!
MASKS: Optional. Mask wearing rules are subject to change based on state, federal and local government guidance.
