Application for Nomination as National Convention Delegate

Minimum qualifications: You must have been a continuously registered Colorado Libertarian since December 12, 2021 and certify agreement with the national Party's Statement of Principles and non-aggression pledge.
The Libertarian Party of Colorado is allocated 35 delegates to send to the National Convention in Reno at end of May 2022. The LPCO request that an application be filled out if you wish to be considered, but an application IS NOT required. The purpose is to allow people to be aware of who is seeking nomination. The application with your name and answers will be posted to our website, but your address, phone number, and email address will be redacted. If members write to the Board with questions for potential delegates, you may receive an email from the Board with the questions who will act as a go-between so that your email is never released.

Please be aware that our rules speak to the duties of a delegate as follows:

58:18 Duties of Delegates

When a member of a constituent unit has accepted election as a delegate, he has the obligation to attend the convention, with such expense allowance as the unit may provide; he should not leave it to an alternate to serve in his place except for serious reason. At the convention, the delegate has the duty to be present at the business meetings, and to be prepared on returning from the convention to present to his unit an information report on what transpired. A delegate is free to vote as he sees fit on questions at the convention, except as his constituent unit may have instructed him in regard to particular matters scheduled for consideration.

Will you represent the best interests of Colorado over personal self-interests? Please qualify your statement however you feel necessary.
Please be aware that our Bylaws do require disclosure of your vote on all important votes upon request. The reason is that a delegate "represents" others who have a right to know how their representatives conducted themselves. It is rare that this request is made, but it can be, so we wanted you to be aware of that.
Can you arrange for time off during the time of the convention and afford the travel?
Will you do your best to attend all business sessions and be well-informed about issues that can be anticipated?
Is there anything else we should know about your interest in being a delegate?

Thank you very much for your interest. Delegates are selected at the State Convention which is scheduled for March 12, 2022. While it is not necessary for you to be personally present to be elected, it can be very helpful if there is stiff competition for the seats which is impossible to predict ahead of time. The past two delegate selections for national conventions have been competitive. If you are not selected as a delegate, there is a very good chance you can be selected as an alternate.
