On July 9, 2020, Jacob’s Mission Community Center applied for recognition as a 501(c)(3) organization. Due to the pandemic, our acknowledgment as a public charity was delayed until September 20, 2021. In 2020, we served 312 children and 197 families. Over the past three years, your support has allowed us to extend our help to 2608 children and 1808 families, with the total value of distributed items during this time reaching an astonishing $22,926.57. Help us bring the "Gift of Hope" to even more children in 2024.
Our Vision: After-school programs provide a safe haven, inspire learning, and offer working parents peace of mind. They empower children to learn, grow, and reach their full potential, offering fresh learning opportunities that enhance academic performance and life skills. Children participating in afterschool programs attend school more regularly, achieve better grades, and are more likely to graduate, reducing the likelihood of substance use.
Our Mission: Our mission is to provide free out-of-school programs that improve high school achievement and workforce placement for school-aged children, youth, and at-risk populations. We achieve this through After-school Tutoring, Extracurricular Activities, Transition to Adulthood and Youth Mentorship Programs, Trade Skills, Meals, and Essentials such as Groceries, Clothing, and other Basic Necessities.
Our programs encompass a wide range of focus areas for students from K-12th grade, including tutoring, mentoring, arts, dance, yoga, cooking, basketball, piano, guitar, sewing, health, positive youth development, education, housing, and workforce development programs for youth ages 14-19. These programs foster their success in school and empower them to transition into responsible, independent adults.
Our Transition to Adulthood Program, titled “Life Starts Now,” offers training and assistance in applying for jobs, college and financial aid, participation in the Education and Training Voucher (ETV) program, enrollment in educational or vocational job training programs, as well as support in obtaining an independent residence.
Many of the children and teens we serve lack access to healthy, affordable food at the end of their school day. Jacob’s Mission Community Center ensures that children, youth, and their household members have access to nutritious meals.
Participants in our out-of-school program receive snacks, and food is available to take home. Those in our cooking and life skills classes enjoy the meals they prepare while gaining valuable skills that can prepare them for a lifetime of healthy habits.
Our qualified services encompass childcare, food assistance, job placement, job training, and gift cards for essentials such as groceries, clothing, and other basic necessities.
We warmly welcome the community to join us in volunteering and making a meaningful difference!
The services we provide to at-risk children and youth are made possible through the talents and time generously provided by our angel volunteers and by donors who genuinely care about making an impact in the lives of our most vulnerable population.
We cordially invite you to explore the sponsorship opportunities listed below and kindly consider supporting our mission. Your involvement has been an integral part of our journey, and it's your commitment that continues to bestow upon our community the invaluable "Gift of Hope." Thank you!
