The Judy Bligh Retreat Scholarship provides financial aid to both new and existing members of the Northwest Basket Weavers, Vi Phillips Guild to attend our Annual Retreat!
Retreat is held in May each year at the beautiful Seabeck Conference Center in Seabeck, WA. Registration will open in mid-January.
Award Amount- $500 registration fee credit
Number of Awards- 4
Application Window- June 1st – December 15th, annualy
General Information- This is not a cash award: Recipients will receive up to $500 credit that will be directly applied toward Retreat regitration and teaching fees. Materials fees are not included, each scholarship recipient is responsible for payment of any class materials fees. Non-members will have $25 of the award applied to an annual Guild membership.
Individuals may receive this scholarship only once. Priority will be given to first-time Retreat attendees, but everyone is encouraged to apply. Applicants who are not successful may apply again in future years.
Application Procedure- Complete and submit the following online application. You may also email this material to grants@nwbasketweavers.org.
You will be asked to provide a short statement describing why you want to attend retreat and what the experience would mean to you. You will have the option to attach supporting material such as a resume or images of your work.
Evaluation Criteria- Applications received after December 15th will not be considered. Awards will be announced by mid-January, no later than one week prior to the opening of registration for Retreat. Scholarship recipeints will be announched in the Guild newsletter.

Once you have been selected for a Judy Bligh Retreat Scholarship, your name will be given to the Retreat Committee so they know to expect you, but you must register for Retreat yourself. We recommend you do so promptly once registration opens as classes fill up quickly. Registration dates vary from year to year, we will inform you of the dates at the time of your award.
Scholarship recipients are responsible for all materials fees which are to be paid per the Retreat registration requirements. Recipients are also responsible for any remaining Retreat costs above the $500.
The Guild is committed to supporting an active community of basket weavers. In this spirit, scholarship recipients are encouraged to participate at Retreat by signing up for a volunteer slot.
