    Movement to Fight Climate Change

With our twin mission of re-greening of Barangay San Guillermo’s natural environment while helping provide livelihood opportunities for many of the community’s constituents, we are aligned with world movements to fight climate change.

Thus, we invite one and all Sangilmoans here and abroad to sponsor our projects as our contribution to mitigate the deadly effects of global warming. As a Sponsor in our projects, you help in the propagation
of bamboo seedlings (propagules) to be planted in denuded upland areas and eroded riverbanks.

    Target Areas
Target plantation sites are idle lands located at the hilly, upland areas of Barangay San Guillermo. The initial goal is to enlist the cooperation and participation of owners of these areas who collectively own at least 50 hectares (about 10% of San Guillermo’s total land area). We are also eyeing partnerships with institutions such as the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) in planting bamboos along government owned riverbanks of Morong River within the barangay’s territorial jurisdiction.

This is to contribute to reducing the rate of soil erosion along the banks of the river and help in the reducing the rate of sedimentation of the Laguna Lake where we get most of our fish requirements.

For the association’s present plantation project, we intend to plant an estimated 15,000 propagules (seedlings) in 5 years as follows:

    Year: 2022 / Area in Has: 50 /  Propagules Planted/Ha: 300 /  Total Propagules Planted: 15,000

Three good reasons why it is good for you to help as a Member, Donor or Sponsor?
    1. “We only borrowed the environment from our children”. By supporting the Program, you do something good for the community. You help reduce the deadly effects of climate change by helping in protecting its
environment not only for the benefit of its present inhabitants but for their children’s children as well. The pandemic is nothing compared to what could happen in the near future as a result of global warming.
    2. You help create livelihood and employment opportunities through the development of community bamboo nurseries and by engaging unemployed members of low-income families to work in the soon-torise bamboo plantations and processing centers in the barangay.
    3. You help revive and revitalize the once famous bamboo craftsmen of San Guillermo called Magyayasyas and their dying bamboo art and craft Kaluskos Kawayan. These craftsmen or their annointed heirs to their craft may be re-trained and re-oriented to new bamboo craftmaking skills for the bamboo processing centers to rise in San Guillermo.

    How can you help?
Now and in the near future, you can sponsor or initiate the development of community bamboo nurseries as your show of support to this endeavor. Once your sponsored seedlings are ready, they will be planted
every tree-planting activities starting at the onset of the rainy season next year (2022).

Your support could go a long way in helping us in our mission of re-greening and conserving the natural environment of Barangay San Guillermo.

Sponsorship starts with donating seedling to sustain our operations in building community bamboo nurseries. You may sponsor at least five (5) bamboo seedlings or more. The price of a sponsored seedling is P250 each. It covers the cost of extracting the seedlings, cultivitating and nurturing them in our community nurseries, as well as in planting them on our plantation sites.
