CCC Seeking Coaches

2026 SEASON COACH JOBS - The Calgary Canoe Club is seeking coaches to help build our team. Applicants are requested to specify one or more roles listed below

Typical Program Coach Roles:

Senior Coach (SC) - Senior Coaches have several years of experience and are competition development certified by the National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) or equivalent.
Lead Coach (LC) - Experienced and certified coaches who play a leadership role and mentor assistants and coaches in training. Typically have 2 or more years of experience.
Assistant Coach (AC) - Coaches work directly with athletes under the supervision of the Lead Coach. AC may be assigned a group or work as part of a coaching team with one or more groups. Coaches have a minimum certification as Entry Level Competitive Coach (ELCC).
Coaches in Training (CIT) - Coaches who are not yet certified as ELCC. CIT coaches work as part of the coaching team and are paired with a certified Coach. CIT coaches may be first-time coaches.

FIRST TIME COACHES:

COACH IN TRAINING (CIT) positions provide first-time coaching experience. Note: Individuals who were previously CITs are not eligible without NCCP coach training. The number of CIT positions depends on program registration; openings will be announced on June 1 or before. Positions are typically one or two sessions per day, Mon–Fri.)

U12/U14 NEW PADDLER COACHES:

1 x U12 Lead Coach – Learn to Paddle (Mon-Fri, Full Day)2 x U12 Assistant Coach – (Mon-Fri, 1/2 Day – AM or PM)1 x U14 Lead Coach – Learn to Paddle U14 (Mon-Fri, Full day)2 x U14 Assistant Coach – (Mon-Fri, 1/2 Day – AM or PM)

U12/U14 TEAM COACHES:

2 x Assistant Kayak Coach – (Mon-Fri, 1/2 Day – AM or PM)1 x Lead Canoe Coach – (Mon-Fri, 3/4 or Full day + Competitions)2 x Assistant Canoe Coach – (Mon-Fri, 1/2 Day – AM or PM)1 or 2 x Lead C15 Coach (Mon-Fri, 1/2 or Full day + Competitions)1 or 2 x Land Activities Coach (Mon-Fri, 1/2 or Full day)2 x Assistant Land Activities Coach – (Mon-Fri, 1/2 Day – AM or PM)

U16+ C15 COACHES (Building National Championship Crews)

1 or 2 x Men’s Crew Coach (2-3 evenings per week + competitions)1 or 2 x Women’s Crew Coach (2-3 evenings per week + competitions)

ADULT ALUMNI & MASTERS PROGRAM (new & experienced part-time athletes)

1 x Lead Adult Coach (2–3 Evenings per week)
